Back when I was thinking of getting the Leica 50 f2 APO (used they were going for about 60% of new cost) I checked images made by it on film. And frankly could not see any difference vs regular 50 Crons outside flare control. And for that I already have CV 50 2.2 etc.
So as I couldn't see any difference it wasn't worth it for me. Maybe it would have been different if shot on digital, but who shoots digital anymore?

Because I clearly have too much time on my hands...I did a quick and dirty comparison between my 35mm Summilux ASPH pre-FLE and the Voigtlander 35mm f/1.5 Nokton. Both lenses are wide open and focused using a 1.4x magnifier (couldn't be arsed to use a tripod though ).
So, what can I say? The older lux shows its age. It has lower global and micro-contrast and thus less apparent resolution. It has more blur (slightly) and the draw is a tiny bit more structured. I repeated this very informal test over a few more frames at different focus points and confirmed these findings. So, you can save $2k and get a better lens!...Show more →
Probably for a bit. I always forget to sell things, so I end up looking like a hoarder.
I'm going to take a trip a 3-day Amtrak trip at the end of February and I figure I'll take it along as my only lens (so we'll see how I feel after that).

Can't really beat traveling with a lens to decide if you truly like it.

I have two rolls of HP-5 to scan but wanted to post the first five. These were with the Artizlab Classic 35 1.4, their version of the 35 Summilux V2. It handles like a lens from the 1960 and wanted to see how it performed photographing people. The guys at the Beaverton Shutterbug were nice enough to let me test it out.

A couple of images taken with my newly acquired Yashica Mat 124 (the original model, not the G one).
I forgot how much I enjoy the square format and the TLR experience. Actually, the first brand new camera that I ever bought was a Yashica Mat 124 G (I was in high school, a long long time ago).
I am still trying to figure out how to scan 120 rolls. Capturing with my mirrorless camera is not possible as I don't have a good 120 film holder. So I resurrected my old Epson 2450 flatbed scanner and bought VueScan. The Epson film holder could have worked but this first roll of film is so curly that I had to use a piece of glass to hold it in the scanner. Hence the Newton rings :-(
Anyhow, here are the pictures: Kodak Gold 200, Cinestill CS-41, Epson 2450 scanner with VueScan and processed with Darktable v5.
