Don't worry. It is easy. Take your time. Read the howto twice before beginning.
Very soon I will be updating the howto, BTW, with some pointers I received from people who have the done conversions based on my howto. Some great ideas that would be worth waiting a week or so for.
PM me if you have any questions.
I cant wait! I actually have 2 58mm rokkor PGs sitting at my desk. I'm waiting for my M42 lens adapters to come in. Seems like there are a lot of ways to mount this lens but none of them is as well documented as yours. Anything to improve the process is very worthwile wait for me.
Some people think profit is evil or bad or at the very least, inappropriate - unless it happens by accident or as a result of doing other things well but minus the profit motive.
Cogi you were running a Rokkor sale business both here and in other places. So please don't feel guilty. To suggest some other more distinguished motive for selling the Rokkors is, to me, gilding the lilly.

Ah well.
Paul,
Your goal of getting this fine lens in the hands of enthusiastic photographers
is a fine one, but very quickly it would all be out of your hands anyway.
Someone might buy one then decide they no longer want to shoot with
manual focus; they sell the lens [likely at a mark-up] and the buyer
could end up being the same person who bought yours. So I think it's
generally best to let the market determine your price for you right up front.
But I think it was great that you performed such a service for the
community and wanted to get this lens in the hands of someone who'd
use it to take pictures worth sharing here. Good intentions. Not all
play by these rules, I guess.

Well, funny story - I bought one locally here in minnesota for a good price here after I made the purchase and the other I won on ebay after. Everything happened after the fact sadly
Truthfully, I wish I didnt win the eBay one. My wallet is hurting.

Hehehe,
You probably didn't expect to come into three of these all at once.
Well, no worries, you will be able to sell those that you don't want.
Although they are different focal length, the Rokkor does look good.
I never really liked 50mm range until I used the Rokkor 58/1.2.
Now, this one practically stays on my 5D.
Infact, I bought another one because I was afraid that I may not be able to find another one when mine breaks/lost for whatever reason.
Intersting thing is that the second one I bought is a bit sharper and gives a little different look to the picture.
Any other Rokkor lens worth converting besides 58/1.2, and 85/1.7?

Read twice...hah! I read it like 4 to 5 times, and the webpage was open all the time I was doing it, just to be sure. Thanks. I am still waiting for another adapter since I messed-up the drilling,(watching UEFA - Spain vs German). Only two holes were usable and with 2 screw mounted, I took the test shot below. Sweet! The bokeh alone is worth the sweat and tears. Notice the absence of glow at 1.2 While my Nikkor 1.2/55 is also a good lens, at wide open, the glow is always presence.
BTW, can I suggest you include the removal of the rear elements and cleaning of the blades in the next update of your already excellent howto, since this is such an old lens and some of us have received it oily blades.

Thanks. I am sure this would help many who have similar issues. I got mine cleaned earlier with the pointers from ovredal73 and Cogitech in previous posts/page.
Nonetheless, I would probably use the information you gave in the future. One or two tiny strands of cotton was left behind on the front side of the blades
i wonder if wiregen is selling the one he got from cogitech
This looks like a different one from the SN. Wow, six bills is pretty steep. Probably someone will jump on it. I wouldn't unless it was EX+ condition and converted.
Oh well, I'll just have to keep searching for one in hope of finding something reasonable.

Wait a bit, next week should arrive my new toy - SD14, then i will try to do mount convertion for using it with Minolta MC/MD lenses (Will use Rokkor 58 1.2, Rokkor 85 1.7, Rokkor 21 2.8mm)
Just got a MC W.Rokkor 28/2.
Posting images of the mount. Don't know if it's of use to anyone, if not, my apologies.
Also have a 135/2.8 coming - and of course the 58/1.2.
Don't think I will be converting any of the lenses yet. Instead I will test them on my XH-A1/35mm adapter rig. The affordable WA's make Minolta very appealing compared to my current C/Y Zeiss.
that looks like my rokkor 35 f/1.8 I finished converting mine. I havent got around to taking photos. Its extremely hard to mod vs the 58mm rokkor.
I had to go to my friends machine shop and shave majority of the m42 mount off and leave the EOS clamp on. I opened up the M42 hole, then I pretty much squeezed the 2 together (with a machine) so its on super tight. Its hard to explain...I'll get photos up when I get the chance.I would say the hardest part of this project is actually reinstalling the aperture linkage. Part the linkage fell apart and now is wide open
