I underexposed the shot.. I was already at 1/40 sec at ISO1600, and lying on the floor with two very interested dogs made for difficult shooting conditions

The front element of my lens got a wet dog nose on it prompting a cleaning session I didn't want to have

I have a UV filter for the front but it's a cheapie with horrible glare/reflections so I had it off.

Very nice, mbailey, including the matching colors. Which one came first, the cat or the carpet? (I was about to ask: "Which one did you have first", but then I remembered the Hannibal Lecter quote by Napalm.)

The carpet... but the cat took quite a liking to it!!

I'll contribute a couple recent shots.

Both taken with the 5D & 85 f/1.8 @ f/2 which was probably too fast an aperture because they both could use a little more DOF, but... that's life.
