It's not as if I'm trying to trade a $1500 lens. It's a $20 belt.

Sorry I was under the assumption that he gave it to you.
I would never do something like that. Like I said, it's a $20 belt, that frankly, isn't going to sell. If someone has some film kicking around that they don't care about (and have probably forgotten about) then why not give it away to me. I'm not going to start a frigging thread for a $20 trade ask and will probably be lost in amongst the other threads.
As I stated, I don't care if it's expired or not. Both parties are happy. Someone gets a belt they want for film they don't need and I get film I can play with for a belt that doesn't get used. Win-Win.

I believe most of us thought you received it FREE from the way your original post was worded, given this is the Freebie/Giveaway Thread.
Why not just give it away and I'm sure the good karma will be returned.

This is a giveaway thread, read the first post
This is the way I understand it too. Yet it's okay for people to charge for shipping? Isn't that technically selling the item? But it's not okay to request a straight trade for something like that? I guess I don't understand that. IF it's a giveaway thread, there should be no money exchanged period!
BTW, I have a 77mm generic pinch-style lens cap to give. First PM gets it! And NO charge for shipping!

I went back through most of the earlier pages in this thread. You wouldn't believe how many times it's come up where people wanted to do what I did and make a low end trade. Granted, part of the upset from people re: my belt was due to the fact that they thought DGCrane gave me the belt for free a while back. He didn't. But, if you go back four pages and you'll find an argument much like the one we just had here today and it happens on average about every 5-6 pages it seems. Personally, I glanced at the original post and saw no mention of trades so I asked. I also was polite and said if it is against the rules I'll take it down. I did and now the belt is on the way to Doug, for free. Shipped, for free.
Looking back at the history of this thread, the general law of the land has always been to charge a nominal fee for shipping. I think it stems from the fact that some things need to be packed well or are large in general, etc.
I see no problem in asking for $ to cover the cost of shipping, especially if it's things like lenses, printers, etc. which if someone from the USA asks for from Canada, might cost the Canadian 20+ dollars to ship properly.
If someone is giving something away for free, that's fantastic. But don't further put them out by making them pay a lot of money for shipping. If someone wants to ship it for free, that's their prerogative. If they ask for a small nominal fee to cover the shipping, fine too imo.

I can understand if it is something large or abnormally shaped, and will cost money to ship. To be honest, I don't really mind people asking for help with shipping costs. But it seems to me, that if they're going to complain about your straight up trade, they should complain about people asking for money to ship things. That's all I'm saying. But I did just read where some one thought you had gotten it for free. So that makes sense.
I love this thread, and the generous people on it! I think we should keep it going, and not worry so much about stuff. Just keep being generous people!
1.8" Sunshade still available, $4.95 for a small flat rate box:
New 1.8" Delkin Pop-Up Shade - A popup sunshade for your LCD, fits 1.8" LCDs. Has a fairly flat portion that adheres to your device and another part that snaps on that is the popup shade. Silver.
I'm not sure how people are shipping so cheaply, if I go on USPS every option seems to be 4-5 dollars or more, even envelopes. If there's really a 2-3 dollar option, let me know and I'll use it!
Last week I mailed (USPS) a broken watch in a padded envelope (3 for $1@ Walgreens). The mailing cost(no insurance) was about $1.85. The United Parcel Services store nearby wanted $7. A friend sent me a small item in a box this week, and the postal cost was about the same , less than$2.
Lesson: low cost uninsured mailing at the Post Office is the least costly. I do not know how many packages they lose.
The end that attaches to the lens is sort of broken. It still fits on properly but doesn't lock in place very securely any more. I replaced it with a new one, but maybe you've lost yours and this will do?
A couple bucks for shipping would appreciated, as it won't exactly pack flat.
Free Canon EOS 50D Expanded Guide Booklet by Andy Stansfield. I just sold my 50D and no longer need this little gem. In the spirit of 100% free, I'll even ship to lower 48 states via USPS printed matter rate.
