I hate to spoil the good intent of this thread. I sent money to Rodolfo Paiz immediately after he confirmed that I was getting the book. I have not recd. the book yet (as of 2/4/10) which is fine (it was being given away free and he can change his mind at any time) but I have made several attempts to contact Rodolfo but he has not responded to a single PM.
You are entirely correct on all points, my friend. I've been incredibly disorganized and overwhelmed for months now, and things have gotten done at a snail's pace. Just to give you an idea of how bad it's been, my $7,400 D3x was damaged at an airshow on November 7th, 2009... and it finally got sent in for repair last Friday. I apologize most humbly for upsetting you, and only wish to convey that it was a human failing of "can't-handle-my-life-right-now" and not any attempt to blow you off or ignore you.
On a happier note, both your book (definitely your book from the moment the deal was done) and the 1GB stick of RAM I owed Mr. Keefer were shipped out at the same time as the D3x was. Nikon just received the camera today, so you'll likely receive the book tomorrow or the next day too.
I do regret the inconvenience and the discomfort caused. The intention was good, it was the execution that sucked. I'll do better next time.
Those post-processing tips are definitely on my to-do list and I still have that PM. There's just a few other things in the way. For example, photography is my hobby (albeit a sometimes-paying hobby), and you'll notice that I don't really even have a website yet... for my day job!
Soon... really... one of these days. Don't ever be bashful about reminding me, that's how things actually manage to get done around here.

Rodolfo, you are a better man than I am and I am sorry for losing my patience and posting on this thread. Please accept my humble apologies. To make matters worse (I felt so appalled on what I had done) I recd. the book via UPS yesterday evening and owed you a PM but I figured I'd acknowledge the receipt openly in this thread rather than sending you a PM behind the scenes. I kept deleting my post several times yesterday before I finally sent it and now I feel so bad after reading what you had to go through with your expensive gear. Thanks again for the book. I could not believe how thoroughly you had packaged the book so it would not get damaged in transit.

Shekhar, you've got the idea all wrong... far from needing to apologize, you did the right thing! All that matters is that you made a deal and that deal had not (yet) been honored. It's not just "OK" to ask that promises be kept, it's an important part of maintaining ethics and honesty in every society and should be a habit. I work with a fair amount of charity fundraising, and if someone promises to donate $5 or even $1... I want that money to be delivered as promised.
A deal is a deal, and neither price nor profit nor lack thereof should change that. No one should ever take a promise or commitment lightly just because there's no money, or less money, at stake. So don't ever be shy about insisting that people follow through on their commitments... stand tall and be proud when you do it, for you are doing the right thing.
I placed an order a few weeks ago for a Hoya HD circular polarizer. It just came in today and as a promo, they were giving away a Tiffen filter holder. It holds 4 filters.
Just pay shipping: $4.00 via gift option paypal.
First to PM gets it.
Just to clarify, it's a velcro pouch. Think of it like a little check wallet. It unfolds and you can put four filters in it.
I wont be able to ship it out until the end of the week because of the current snow storm.
Remember, if you take a freebie, you must also post a freebie. In keeping with the freebie thread requirements I giving away a 55mm Red (25A) Hoya filter. I ordered it, opened it and discovered it was the wrong size - oops. Now it's yours.
