Oh I know Dan...We made parts for that car, Jay Leno came and got one of the first one's.
.
Same to you Jim. Last few years have been pretty good but a little of an uphill struggle.
2023 was super, 2024 is looking to be really good so far.
Happy New Year Guys! I am just ending that second two day period where my life is not my own............the disassembling and packing away of all our Christmas stuff. Not a bad trade off, the two days following Thanksgiving and two days sometime around New Years when Sheila looks up and says, "I'm sick of all this......", the rest of the year is at my discretion.
Took James for a sunset flight two nights ago, his first time to see the city lights and just twilight in the western sky, he loved it. Last evening I went out all by myself and shot a dozen landings as the front blew in, great practice.
Spent the better part of two days cleaning up the Jet A one of my tenant'a aircraft overboard onto the hangar floor, just ridiculous and he was on the west coast with is TBM 950 so he couldn't help. $400 worth of remediation products and an hour with a floor machine and the Hagar looks like it did before the spill. Being the airport slum lord isn't all it's cracked up to be. I could have called the on field fire department , but the HazMat bill would have topped $20K and our complex would have gotten a black eye, sooooo.............
Amidst the dismantling yesterday, which JIII was helping with, he wanted to go jump in the last remnants of his leaf pile. I mounted up the 85/1.2 and took advantage of the moment..............
I was thinking Santa might have gotten Ray one of the lenses because he was so good last year..........
I was hired to photograph this Eclipse jet yesterday, and I also got to go flying in it, even actually flying it for about 10 minutes or so. It was a gorgeous day and any day you get to go flying makes it even better.
Wishing everyone here a very Happy and prosperous 2024.
The 50/1.2 and the 85/1.2 are incredible pieces of glass. One has to be a little careful with the shallow /really really shallow DOF at 1.2, but the look they render is unmistakeable, and worth the investment, clients recognize the feel, it really, subtly, sets you apart from the crowd.

Well, I got the 50/1.2 in November to work on senior photos for my oldest granddaughter. You are correct, about controlling the focus. I chose the 50 vs the 85/1.2 because I still want the background to be recognizable at /4.0. I love the lens and it has stayed on my R5C since I got it. (Aggies will get the pose!). The 85/1.2 might be a birthday surprise!
Happy New Year Eddie Ray! You will love the 85 as much or more than you do the 50, just a little different tool but they are an excellent pair. I saw one "refurbished" the other day for $900 less than I paid. I'm sure that stuff is good equipment but I just don't feel like I want to buy anything that was someone else's problem at one point, regardless of the deal.
Hoping for some news in the next 60 days that will reveal Canon's next move as far as body upgrades, most likely in February. None of my Canon sources will say anything, even if they know, because they'll be summarily dismissed. Canon takes premature leaks really seriously these days.
Tuning up the stabilizer that I built a few years ago. I have a bunch of air to air work coming up and it includes 8K video so this stabilizer will be perfect!
