I've wished our Buddy Mike Brewington lived close for a number of reasons, but this weekend I added a new one. Seems the 1/4" stainless cables that lift my hangar doors keep snapping and the only door repair game in town is all too happy to come out and replace them for a grand a piece. I'm now on my third cable and I'm thinking that they are installing them too tight. The cables just pull apart like they're made out of string. I'm going out to try to figure it all out on my own today, fortunately the complex

Many times I've wished we lived closer.too Jim. If the cables are stringing it is a sure sign they are overloaded or too light for the task OR the counterweight or spring tension is too great and stressing them. Be careful! Tensioners are brutal and have less forgiveness than a Phantom swinging four blades.

Actually, as I'm sure you all have surmised, it is a model XPlane12 aircraft created by the extraordinary developers at a firm named Aerobask. Just amazing to fly (sic) these aircraft. The picture I took above is from a recent flight from KPNE to KRDG, Northeast Philadelphia to Reading, PA. I'm learning how to do VNV on the Garmin G1000 PFD/MFD/GNC700 system. Used in combination with the Airline quality/sophisticaton of ForeFlight Performance Plus navigation/flight planning/3D Synthetic Vision, etc., etc., it's quite a challenge for sure, especially for those of us who flew back in your days, Brother Dan, and in far, far less dangerous contexts.

Merry Christmas and the Best of New Years to ya'll. God Bless each and every one of you. Tony

Great having lunch with you today Bill........ The hangar door is probably more in tune than it has ever been at this moment. All the cables are tuned and balanced and it operates very smoothly. I still have to rig the two cables that pull the door to the frame after it is closed, but that will be a piece of cake compared to the lifting cables. The top fittings on the lifting cables are about 24' in the air so it makes it a challenge.

JIII and I are going out tomorrow to straighten up and clean the floor, it will be a much easier day than today.

This is 1 beautiful looking aircraft brother! So sleek and aerodynamically smooth!
Glad to see your post.

Yeah no tracer rounds following me and ruining the fuselage! Or hitting me and/or my crew chief!

We missed your input here! Have a GREAT HOLIDAY brother!
S/F!

These creatures have eaten all my bulbs! They jump onto my roof at 5am and run across it waking me up and my wife below me! I snore and toss-n-turn relentlessly!
But these are 2 fine captures!

Those squirrel photos bring up so many memories. My dad had pecan trees at our home and he would KILL the squirrels with a strong pellet gun.

My dog Zoey now gives them HELL in our backyard, yet she hasn't caught one yet; if she did, she would die a happy dog.

We now have SEVEN beautiful red oak trees that were planted in our backyard by the squirrels. We didn't plant any of the seven. One is about 10 years old and is gorgeous. The other six are fairly new, but this year they all turned red. Wish I had taken some photos of it.

Dam squirrels, .
Good and bad memories...I'd wake up sometime and hear them running thru the heater ducting, .
Mice too, crawl around in winter and get stuck in there somewhere, then die and ya smell em for a month and still can't find em.
Pellet guns and powderless .22 shells were the best. Eat em, skin em, shoot em with a gun or shoot em with a camera.
.
Love your pictures and I love taking pictures of wildlife as well.

My squirrel story. I worked in a refinery and usually on Saturday or Sunday we would pitch in $$$ and cook up a big lunch or supper. One guy said he shot some squirrels on a hunt and one of our lady operators said she would love to cook some smothered squirrel. (For non-Texians, smothered means it is skillet cooked meat smothered in gravy...gravy makes anything 2-3 times tastier!) Well, she cooked it up and we served ourselves and as we began eating, there was a series of pinging from BBs hitting the plates. She looked up and said, I just cook it, I don't take the BBs out. Sans the BBs, it was a very tasty dish. Wonder what we did to our bodies with those lead BBs cooked in the meat
