Unless I misread the signs, I got a wink and a nod on new cameras hitting the streets in the Spring of '24, surrounding the Olympics.
I bet, Sony's got a new one coming out next week.
Guess you'll have to send me an R5 to demo then.
Passed on an A9ll for 2k today and another for 2100...Hoping the R5 will come down a little.

The R5 should certainly come down a few hundred dollars in the next four or five months.
The R5C is such a perfect camera that I have seriously considered getting a second on and forgetting about whatever they release in '24. I have not operated with two camera bodies in a long time. There were a number of years when I had a body for the 24-70, 70-200, 200-400, 500 and 800. Feel a little under equipped with just two and it exposes the sensors to more dust than I like. I thought about having a custom rack built for Alliance so I could just pull whatever I needed , whenever I needed it, but alas, AFW is no more and the complexion of what I shoot continues to morph into much more commercial work. Truthfully, and I don't like admitting it, shooting a two or three day air show just takes too much out of me these days, especially if I am hoofing it. Alliance ended at about the right time in reality I guess.
3:23am and the logistics of shooting 18 "logistics" centers is swirling in my head, so I decided to get up and make a plan. There's a heavy frost on the ground outside so that's it for any Bermuda grass this year. Sure was hoping for a little longer fall season but oh well.

We've had mid 30's but no frost yet Jim, now rain all weekend but the afternoons have been beautiful.
My 3 am planning session paid off, left at 7 this morning and just rolled in, drove 200 miles around North Texas and got twelve properties finished. Six to go! I love a day like this, me, the camera and peace and quiet. The subject isn't all that stimulating, but the challenge to make the property look better than it does is always there.
I think that new Canon RF 200-800 lens will be a fantastic lens for airshows! What a range! To get to this range I have to have a Sony 200-600 on one A1, and the 600 F4+1.4 TC on another A1, what a hassle! Will be interesting to see specs of the R5II, if it has a stacked sensor, I may be tempted to get this combo just for airshows.
Hi Douglas! I would be surprised if the AF accuracy and speed of that new lens would be up to your standards, but we'll see. I'm supposed to get a demo on it as soon as one is available. Color me skeptical.
I was hired by an aircraft broker to go up to the Seattle area and photograph an aircraft that was located at Renton Airport, the home of the Boeing 737 factory.
Crummy, rainy weather, of course, but I managed to snag this shot of these various B-737's being worked on.
Is there is a baseball dynasty cooking in the Lone Star? 5 of the last 7 World Series games have included a Texas team with 2 won by the Astros and now the Rangers. The media must be scared!

Even though it is a white lens, it is not an L lens. The 100-500 is an L lens. I am skeptical as well.

1st frost last night Bill! Got some delicate flowers but some survived. Tonight in the mid 20"s. Refreshing to me! I sleep with a window open all year long except mid summer.
A very bad day for some aircraft owners. A malfunctioning fire suppression system turned everything in this hangar into scrap in less than two minutes, including two new Bentleys and a Citation X that you can't see in the foam..............
The cars if they are closed should be good, the planes don't know didn't see any covers if not to long exposed.
But the foam clean-up is also something else.
Over here the foam contains PFAS and should be disposed off by special rules and company's and is also very expensive..
Not to mention the foam retardant ( Anti Foam ) that you have to use, a IBC with 1000L in it costs us 4500 € so that's 4780$ a bit more for the client.
We just ended a test with a large oil company over here they have to do that test every year to stay certified $$$
