Jim, thanks for the heads up. I am heading to Italy for several weeks in early October, so hopefully the new bodies might announce by then. This gear is getting a bit too heavy to lug around. As I look at the specs on the R5, it almost appears as if it can replace both the bodies I have. Would you say the AF on the R5 is as good as on the 1DX? The fps on the mechanical shutter is close enough to not really make a difference, and I would think that the pixel count is again close enough to the 5DS R to be equivalent.
All that being said, the thought of spending big money on new RF glass is somewhat intimidating. Not sure I could get those investments past the CFO, if you catch my drift. That being said, I cannot go backwards in glass quality. It's a slippery uphill slope!!!!

Dan, Topaz denoise is my best friend.. However, I set the max ISO to 10000. I am actually uncomfortable for anything above ISO 6400 if I still have to crop a lot.
Check these ISO, these images are very heavily cropped too. I got to say shooting swallows in flight is the most challenging for me in all the things I shoot.
Thanks brother!
NikCollection has gone to heck in a handbasket since they sold out to Goolge then DXO. Only support is thru email.
Their fixes do nothing! I love their Silver Efx Pro2 or my b&W conversions. Dfine is their denoise software and it does an ok job. But I can't stand waiting weeks for issues that crop up with a new version of a conflict with a new Ps update.
You seem to be having NO problems with what you are shooting my friend!
Thanks!
Dan
I know what you mean Dan, seems to be the way of the future. Companies are eliminating the ability to call for help so they can minimize staff. Luminar has been having a few hiccups and it's the same thing, eventually someone gets back to you, but if they don't solve the problem with that response you start all over again.
I have been having the same problem with my new TP Link Deco router system. I can't get a human voice to interact with me. I spent over two weeks via email with someone who can only request I run another "test". This person (or 'bot') has yet to recognize there is a problem. The last email test shut down my router system so I called my internet provider who helped me get it back online, although the router performance continues to be degraded. SMH

Interesting. A year ago I replaced a 2 year old TP Link router because it incessantly dropped IP addresses to my connected devices. Tried everything, but no joy. The TP Link forum had other users with the same issue. Switched to Netgear and things are smooth now.
Saw the first photo in the local paper today reporting how American tourist are flooding European popular locations. Guess I am part of the story. I took the second photo last Friday while there were not as many tourist.

Did you happen to see that idiot etching his name and girlfriends name into the Roman Collosseum brick/stone?
The polizei arrested him on the spot!
His punishment should be a toothbrush and some water..clean every brick maggot!
My wife's eldest daughter and her family are headed to the UK and Paris in a week. The cost of a new
car!!!!!!
"Ivan Danailov Dimitrov
The man, identified by his lawyer as Ivan Danailov Dimitrov, 27, used a key to carve “Ivan+Hayley 23” onto a brick wall of the structure on June 23 in a move that drew outrage on social media and from Italian officials."
Thank god he wasn't an American!
While roaming around the Acropolis above Athens I took random photos. I am standing above the Odeon of Heodes Atticus (160-169 A.D.) looking south to the Aegean Sea. It includes a large section of the city of Athens below the Acropolis as the city spreads to the sea. As you can see, the amphitheater is used for concerts. They are setting the stage for a concert later in the evening. When you get above the graffiti marred city, the view is beautiful.

Anybody planning on going to the Oceana Airshow in September? Meetup perhaps?
I am planning to go, if there is no last minute change. I bought a front row assigned seat for both Sat and Sun but I will go for only one day, depends on the weather. Last year I bought a front row assigned seat ticket but ended up not using it because they don't allow you to stand up to take pictures in the reserved seating area, I went to the highest row of the beach in the same section. I didn't block anyone because I was standing on the highest and the last row of the beach. I may do the same this year. But to get good shots at ground level the front row seat can't be beat. I will pm you a week before the show so we can meet up.
Nice lineup this year too! Here is the ground map from past year.

Ray, I read that it is taking 6 months for get a new passport now. We didn't even realize our passport expired when we planned our trip to Portugal some months ago. It took about 3 months to get a new one. When we were in Portugal, in May, by casual observation, I would say about 70% of the tourists were Europeans, 1/4 were Americans. Everybody wants to get out and travel after the COVID shxt.

Time to go mirrorless, Dan. I got to take my hat off for Nikon for making a wonderful camera like the Z8 so relatively "affordable". 47 MP stacked sensor, 20 FPS... Once you try the blackout free EVF of camera with stacked sensor, it's hard to go back.
Is anybody using the Sigma 60-600mm DG DN to shoot aircraft? If you are, could you comment on IBIS and AF tracking? How is it for video?
Thanks
I shot airshows with the Sigma 160-600 Sports when I was shooting Nikon, very good lens with great range. When I started shooting Sony, Sony didn't have long glasses, I rented a Canon mount Sigma 60-600 for an airshow, using adapter on my Sony, I liked it so much that I bought one, 2 months later, Sony launched its 200-600.... I do miss the wider end of the Sigma though.

Plus, every aircraft we flew on was full. When we were taxiing to depart JKF in New York, the pilot announced we were 7th in line. When he turned parallel to the runway I looked back at the taxiway. I counted over 25 aircraft behind us in line...and there could have been more but I couldn't see beyond the taxiway. Insane. Our flight into Munich was almost an hour late which caused us to miss our connection to Athens. They had to put the eleven of us on 4 different flights. Lufthansa even tried to put my 16 year old granddaughter on a flight by herself to Athens and were not very nice about making that change. Thank you Lufthansa.
