Big discussion on Avweb about where to move Reno to. I guess the reason they are pulling the plug is the fact that Reno-Stead has sunsetted them due to development around the airport. Probably going to be a tough sell to most areas due to the risks involved, weebeesee.

Van Horn, or Ft. Stockton, Texas. Move it to Van Horn and have Bezos schedule a rocket launch one evening.
Yesterday my client mentioned that she needed a portrait for something immediate, we had a few minutes so I grabbed the 85/1.2 and found a perfect spot. Five minutes later she had her portraits.............love that 85!
R6 strikes again (mechanical shutter). Thought I had a great shot until I saw it it PhotoMechanic. Check out the flex on that bat...more than Tiger Woods' driver shaft on a 350 yard drive...
Thanks Ray! Yes, I've begun splitting duty between the R5 and the C just to even out the shutter count a little. All the images of The 457th last weekend were with the C. I don't see any difference at all.

Is your bat distortion due to electronic shutter? I know that has to drive you nuts.
Jim, I only use mechanical because I am suspicious of the rolling shutter. I actually had one of these using my 7D II a couple of years ago. I am cognizant of the effect so I watch out for it. Crazy.
BTW, Douglas, I have been using "clear" with Topaz DeNoise. However, with this shot (^^^) I had to go back to 'Low Noise'. Love the look of 'Clear' because it adds skin texture. The above photo I used 'Low Noise' with minimal noise reduction because, even with the newer LED lights at the field, I had a crispy texture when I used 'Clear'. Keeps me on my toes.
I don't know how you find time for everything - what's your secret? Organised, focused, passionate, don't sleep - all of the above? It's remarkable that you have any time left over for the forum, but I'm glad you do!

That's weird, you haven't experienced distorted baseballs or basketballs have you? James III is starting T-Ball, I'll be watching for that effect. Yes, the 85/1.2 is an incredible lens, I have just started to scratch the surface of its capabilities. I'm looking forward to getting to know the RF 50/1.2, feels. bit guilty , it hasn't come out of my case since I unboxed it. Both of those are like my EF 17L T/S, you won't use them every day, but when the time is right, there is nothing like them.
Jim, I have not seen any distorted balls using the 70-200 and the 100-400, I did see a funny basketball using the 24-70 so I stopped using the lens for basketball. However, that softball in the photo above does have some distortion which I thought was excessive for the 1/1250 shutter speed (100-400 lens).
Thank you, the guys here will tell you that it's just how I roll. This "little" conversation and the vast majority of the people involved are close friends, many of whom I have never laid eyes on, but that doesn't matter in the least. Like good friends, we've been through a lot over the years and it has created an even closer bond. Our collective passion for photography brought us together, but it quickly turned into much more than that. Lot's of fun, as in life, some sadness, a few disagreements, but mostly we just care about each other and that is the underlying current that makes this place so special. There are lots of stories about the thoughtful things people on our thread have done for each other, heck we took up a collection so one member could buy a car that she needed. I remember a story where a fledgling student had her camera destroyed and a bunch of people immediately popped up and offered to replace that gear and more, this place has an amazing heart. Heck, my friends here would give someone in need the shirt off their back, or in Jan Arie's case the jeans............ More than one person has called it the best place on the web and, as we head toward nine million views, I don't disagree.
I'm glad that you have come back to us, your images are wonderful, as is your company!
When my client asked me about shooting an impromptu portrait I scrambled and look at a couple of locations. This was one possibility, we settled on the columns, but this had potential. Look at the beautiful feel the 85 pulled out of an old window. I may actually return to this location at some point and utilize that backdrop..................
