Arrgggh. I tried to be so careful with attention to detail, and I totally missed the red sock and laces in the front row. Staring me right in the face. Would have sent her to the back.
So I had to learn how to change the colors. Not perfect, but probably not noticeable to anyone except me.
Thanks guys, really appreciate the compliments. At least I'm friends with the coaches and they totally appreciated me coming out, so not that nerve wracking. The most dicey part was standing on a bench to get some elevation, but it was sitting on clean ice while two coaches held it steady. Took about 50 photos, hoping I would have a few with everyone's eyes open, on me, and faces visible (it's hard to get 40 high schoolers to stay still).

I complain about venues with a lot of gold, red or other saturating colors, but Mark, I would think you really have to keep the highlights in check to get those perfectly balanced hockey photos. Great photos! No wonder the coaches like you being there.
The R5 II rumors seem to be getting some traction, might be hitting the shelves in a few months. The specs are so good that, if accurate, this camera could eat into the mythical R1 demand. I'd probably get a couple and hold off on the R1 if it ever became reality. 61MP/4K/120, 8K/60, dual CF Express slots and a ridiculous frame rate.
Pretty good looking camera isn't it Jan Arie? I'm waiting for an update from my Canon guy re: possible release timeframe. I am guessing that the body will run in the upper fours, which is reasonable.
Well contrary to “rumors” the word from Canon is, not this year. They are still having trouble fulfilling R5c orders so they claim that they aren’t in a rush to release another R5 variant.

Thanks Ray. I try to hit the exposure so the ice is at the threshold of blowing out, with a few blinkies on the screen. Then I dial back the whites a bit. In reality, the exposure isn't as consistent as I would like, as this rink doesn't have enough lights. These were ISO5000 (and only 1/640 sec) with extra NR using Topaz.
The girls coaches let me shoot from the bench. I don't think the boys coaches would let me, but I wouldn't want to anyway. Pucks are flying much harder. These were through the glass and I was surprised at the quality, although the contrast really starts to suffer when I have to angle through the glass. For some reason I felt I needed the extra Topaz work to take noise off the faces and the pants. The girls wear black and I'm usually satisfied with the NR in ACR. Seems like the glass makes the noise worse, maybe because I have to bump up the contrast quite a bit.
The college rink I shoot at is a dream. ISO2000 at 1/1000 with holes in the glass.
Unfortunately I have some work commitments today so I'm missing both teams' first tournament games.

Nice work Omer! The second is a Nanchang CJ6.
Thank you Jim. Appreciated.
Just viewed some images of the Nanchang on google which look more robust than the one in my image which seems almost fragile. I guess even planes can be characterized by paint schemes.

Yeah, we lost power for 4 hours last night. One of the linemen foremen for the electrical co-op lives down the road and he was tracing the lines/transformers after the lightning quit. I saw him and his wife at the corner of the highway resetting a transformer (she sat in truck while it rained). I asked him if he need help hold a light or something. He was using a telescoping pole to reset the transformer that extended over 20 feet. Anyway after he reset that transformer the lights flashed down the road 3 times then went off. He told me he had to look for another problem. 3 hours latter the lights came on. Nice to have a Co-op guy in the neighborhood. His wife doesn't like being in the house without electricity, so she motivates him.😀

Sorry Jim, but it's a Russian aircraft, not Chinese.
The Nanchang (China) has a "square" tail (vertical stabilizer),the "rounded" tail makes it a Yak (Russian). More than likely a Yak 52.
Edit: They look similar, but are completely different aircraft. The easiest way to differentiate is the tail, but the wings are diffferent, as is the landing gear, one swings in, the other swings fore (or aft) I don't remember. However, as I said the tail shape is the easiest/quickest way to identify between the Nanchang, and the Yak.
