Mark, the best time to go to Conowingo is usually from late October to the first week of January, then late March and April for the shad run. There are really hit or miss in terms of the eagles' fishing activities. During these periods parking can be a problem on weekends, in the current season some folks arrive there at 5:00 AM on weekends to make sure they have a parking spot and a good shooting spot. It's a bit crazy that it has become so well known that birders from everywhere have heard of it. If you are on Facebook, there is a "Conowingo Dam Eagles" group where people post their pictures and some report the activities.
Anyway, shoot me a message if you decide to go, I will be happy to share any info and may join you if time allows.
That would be great, thank you. I need to check the schedule, but I was thinking of the shad run, that may work. I would likely be able to take a couple days during the work week.
Jim, the location is slightly outside of the map you showed. The general location is Conowingo Dam in Darlington, Maryland, for GPS navigation, use 2569 Shures Landing Rd. Darlington, MD 21034. This is where the parking lot is, a very short walk will put you by the river. On the map you will see "Conowingo Fisherman's Park near the address above. That's the place to go. Along the river there is about 1/4 of a mile you can shoot from. Depending on the light and what kind of shots you want to get because the elevation varies a bit. More to that when you are ready to come. Late March and April will give you longer day light to shoot and you won't freeze your rear end off like right now.
DO NOT use Conowingo Dam as your GPS destination, it will take you to the top of the dam, that's not the place to shoot from.
Thanks for your service Eddie Wrei(Ray). We all began with 1 stripe who served unless an officer. But we(enlisted) had to work for ours! ...No just kidding!
My fed job had me on many 747's! I loved it!!!!

All are superb images, truly calendar or book worthy, and to me, the third from the bottom one REALLY stands out to me. Amazing work, always impressed by your photos. Thank you for sharing your amazing talent with others.
Went out to LAX last weekend to chase planes, and Saturday was amazing, weather wise. The heavy rain on Friday cleared out all the smog, it was absolutely gorgeous on Saturday.
The highlights of the day are the Saudi Retro scheme and the C-5 Galaxy arrival shots.
I think Boeing made a wise decision not to make a bigger plane to compete with the Airbus A380 when it was launched with all the hooplas. With that said, I haven't been on an A380 nor had the opportunity to photograph one. I don't usually go out of my way to photograph commercial jetliners but would love to shoot the A380 for one time.

I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend.
Thank you, Jay, for the complement! Love the C-5 shot, you got the light and the background, nice and sharp!

These "monsters" are on the flight path from the SE to Dover AFB and when they get near my house, everything rumbles and the whine of the engines is deafning!
Well done!

We had our first snow today, starting just after dark. Nothing significant, less than an inch. But it was the first, so pandemonium on the streets as I was trying to get home.

Hahaha! You would think you lived in Texas. The only place worse than Texas roads with ice and snow are Southern California streets when it rains.
Boy is that ever the truth! Coming from the midwest I was completely amazed that a southern wet street could elicit the same chaos as two feet of snow.
