But I have to tell you that if you set the 1D MKII up with 4 box narrow auto focus and manage to keep it on their face it too will deliver the goods!!! I'll see if I can find a few of those from the great nieces playing last fall. As for it being challenging, oh ya but worth all the effort.

Thanks Douglas. I will keep that in mind.
In respect of the Sony A1, I was thinking of getting two 512GB V90 cards, rather than using my Sony 160GB CF Express Type A cards. I find that 15fps is fine most of the time and I tend to only shoot for a few seconds during a close pass anyway.
What do you think and what card setup would you recommend?

Awesome capture and thanks for sharing,

Hi Dan,
You are right, the 1DXII and III were pretty much flawless in the AF department.

Cheers,

I shoot Sony A1. I use the 160 GB CFX Type A cards, but I also have V90 card. V90 should be good enough if you are not shooting 30 FPS for 5 or 6 seconds continuously. I only shoot 30 FPS for the opposing passes, it does give you better odds getting "that shot" than 15 FPS. Other than the opposing passes, I shoot 20 FPS. I mostly shoot in bursts.
Thanks Doug. It was your advice (and images) on this forum that helped convince me to move to the A1 a year ago. I think the V90 cards will do fine in my case.

Thanks Steve. The Sony A1 is one heck of a camera for sure, Nikon and Canon got some nice toys too. We are spoiled with technology.
Went into Walmart today and brought my case of challenge coins I have made because the pharmacist I found out was in the Navy last month when I talked to him. I walked in today, shook his hand and said Happy Veterans Day and put my case down, opened it up and said take your pick of a few. He told me that in the last 10 years he has always worked on Veterans day, never had the day off and this was the biggest surprise and the best thing that has ever happened to him for that day. It truly made his day and mine as well.

"Present and accounted for", I called Kevin Hong late last night and told him that I couldn't make the airshow. We were going to shoot that formation together. Kevin was in that B17 and for some unknown reason switched to another 17 right before they launched. Texas Raiders is no more, it was a flight to commemorate the pilot's retirement............... https://twitter.com/bnodesk/status/1591522149512073217?s=42&t=qnE5P1SVw6dePqMZyLTwNw
