cs3is,
That first pix with the pilot waving at you, that's a really great shot, and so is the second one with the pilot looking straight on, they turned out really great.

Not Fair!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I haven't even gotten home to download a photo and Douglas is posting all the good stuff!!! Makes a guy want to leave the cameras at home and just watch the show, the best will be posted on MA2A
Seriously, Pleasure to me you Douglas and fantastic work! I will be pleased if my results are even half as good as yours.
My posts will lag, promised my cousin candid's of his team in action; airmen from the 316th support group at Andrews who put on the show. Some of the best, most professional service men and women you will meet! We are going to put together shots of their work taken candidly from afar to use in a thank you presentation that Bill is doing later this week. Then I will dig through my photo's for some of the good stuff from the airshow. But to be honest, this was so much more than an airshow; the hangers were filled with STEM activities, presentations to 6,000 middle and HS students from the area on Friday and some of the best art / paintings I have seen in years. Seems the Air Force has it's own Art History group that paints events and every day normal events; then adds a paragraph or two to the piece to make it a piece of history. Many, Many of these paintings also grace the walls of the Pentagon. And all are donated by the artists! I talked to several; such wonderful people with a great vision.
And then in the Heritage hanger they had Ike's original presidential aircraft to take him to and from is PA farm; and "That's All Brother".......................... The C47 that was lead ship during D-Day, and all other major air drops during WWII. To sit in those polished metal seats and listen to the tour guide tell you about the history and men who went there before you; just sends chills up your spine. We owe them so much more than we can ever pay. And the tools they went to war with; while perhaps state of the art in 1944 are so crude and free of any creature comforts by todays standards. Just amazing.
It was a great long weekend! Now back to life; catching up with work and helping my lovely wife Clara through her visit with Ms. Rona Virus................... Seems her luck ran out; that is the bad news. The good news so far is she is doing well; some aches and pains, light fever in the evening but over all not feeling any worse than a bad cold. Hopefully she is about through the worst of it. Now I just need to avoid the bug.

Thank you, gentlemen! Dan, you are too kind! I am sure you will find some keepers from your time at Andrews. I took lots of prop. planes shots at slow shutter speed at Andrews on Saturday, I couldn't find ONE that's sharp enough to keep. To me, it's really hit or miss with props.
Took lots of pictures at Oceana on Sunday, haven't had time to edit the keepers but I just saw these! I didn't even realize they made the rainbow. Angels in blue in deed. I think these are the most interesting shots of the BA that day, I got tons of the run of the mill shots like formations, opposing passe.

Look great to me! Hoping for a good opportunity at some point, but, having a bit of trouble with the concept of "run of the mill" and Blue Angels. That said I got decidedly pedestrian shots of B-29 Doc the other day.

Thank you Craig! The B-29 FIFI didn't even take off on Saturday at Andrews, it was supposed to do a flyby.

Great set of images. Do you have your 600f4 and 200-600 on different bodies?

Thank you. Yes, for airshows I have the 200-600 on an A1 body, and the 600 f4 +1.4TC on another A1 body, sometimes I don't even have time to switch one setup to another, let along changing lenses on a body.
My assignment today was another beautiful pool. This one didn't have a lot of frills, fire pit, night lighting etc. Pretty straightforward. One of the unique features was an app adjustable swimming current and I got a cool video clip of the owner swimming "laps" in place.

Sorry to hear about another airshow accident. I was at Oceana on Sunday, heard during the Saturday show to two of the parachute jumpers (Navy Seal) tangled up and had to cut their chutes and deployed their reserved chutes in the last seconds.
Anyway, I had the honor and pleasure with fellow M2M member Dan from Iowa at the Andrews show on Saturday. He is the first M2M member I met in person. I joked that I haven't met the other M2M member Dan from Maryland but met the Dan from Iowa.
The shooting conditions were tough, for a good while it was backlit and the haze/smoke from west coast wildfires made it even more difficult. Anyway here are some of the shots from Saturday....Show more →
Well technically I am "Dan from Iowa" also Douglas.
Born in Des Moines and 10 years in Ft Dodge until we moved to Mary-land, 1957.
Great to see everyone up close and personal!!
Fantastic compositions Douglas!
Dan
Douglas certainly had some beautiful light on Airforce 1! But it's not every day you can also capture a photo of her over the Thunderbirds! Starting to plow through the 6,000 or so photo's; there is going to be some cool stuff dribbling out over the next couple weeks.

Farmers really like those enclosed cabs when harvesting and plowing. Nice fresh air!
You know it! I remember helping out on a farm when I was in my teens. Standard equipment was a pair of earplugs and a bandana wrapped around my mouth and nose. My lunch and water were set in the shade at the edge of the field and I disced until my ride picked me up after dark.
I was wondering if I was going to get dirty or not. Fortunately, the wind was nice enough to leave me clean... this time.

Thank you Jim! I need to be more creative, just shooting opposing passes and formations are kind of repetitive after a while.

It's really neat you got the Air Force One and the lined-up TB all in the frame.

That's a good looking bike! The last time I rode a bike (not this big) was probably 35 years ago

Douglas, I never get tired of seeing BA photos, especially well captured ones!
If any of y'all get down to NAS Pensacola to cover them, let me know and I'll come drag gear for you! . I haven't been to an airshow recently but we live about an hour and a half away.
Dan,
Beautiful shot and nice work on getting that...

Leo...We love farmers and peanuts, especially in my mr.Goodbar...Was able to use an enclosed tractor once, the rest were wide open and you'd be a dusty you know what at the end of the day. ...I miss those days but I don't...Love the bike !

I had never seen the USAF F-16 Viper Demo Team in this snake skin paint scheme. An extra bonus at Oceana.
