In the meantime, I only got these future fliers (green herons) today.. They are about one week old. The next airshow for me is 3 weeks away in Atlantic City, OK lineup, no stealth jets though.
Those are neat shots Douglas! My next show is Alliance, and it's now called an "Air Expo". The abbreviated event will take place on Friday and Saturday and the flight window will be a couple of hours in the afternoon. There will be a static display ramp and dawn/dusk photo tours, but no photo pit. Thunderbirds and the F/22 Demo Team are up this year. The last few years we have gotten murdered in social media due to the changes, but the cold hard facts are, the Alliance business sector has grown exponentially and a full blown air show just is not possible anymore. Ross and his Dad didn't build that airport for a hobby, it's a business venture and it's doing what it was meant to do. We are fortunate that the powers that be worked around the growth for as many years as they did.
I'm going to look on the bright side, "Air Expo" won't be a four day pummeling like the Alliance Air Show was, and this new format might give Chandler and me some additionally unique access, "WeeBeeSee!" I'm going to give Chili the task of still work while I focus on video. We've been invited to shoot "Wings Over Houston" the next weekend and I think we will take them up on it if the weather looks good.
Apple must be catching up in the supply chain debacle, just got notice that my new MacBook Pro will arrive 3 weeks earlier than they estimated. Anyone looking for a mint 2018 MacBook Pro with 32GB of Ram and a 2TB SSD, this one might be available in a month or so. It's in mint condition, had a protective cover on it it's entire life.
Hello new to the board and to photography, I got a message about where to post this and I think I finally got the right spot by the looks of it. I live in Anchorage, AK and I've been taking some photos of seaplanes taking off and landing at Lake Hood Seaplane Base. Any feedback or tips would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for taking a look.
Welcome Andy! Yeah, I have tip for you, keep doing what you are doing! Nice work, thanks for joining us and allowing us to enjoy your beautiful spot in the world!
BTW, your last shot of the yellow Super Cub embodies all the best techniques we all strive for, tack sharp, great panning, wonderful light and a big prop disc. Well done! If I lived up there I would never go to work, incredible landscape!
You have a little crud on your sensor, nothing a few mouse clicks with the clone stamp tool won't get rid of.
Thanks for all the kind words, I appreciate it. Surprised the Supercub went over so well, I thought that one was a little blurry and not quite as sharp on the plane. I got that photo late in the evening around 10:00 or so, better light. The majority of traffic out there is going in the middle of the day, most of my photos are around then. I'll look into the clone stamp feature thanks for the heads up about that, I just got Lightroom a couple days ago so green as hell on the editing and post production.

These sea planes remind me of my youth at Lake Vermillion in N. Minnesota. Jacques Piccard (hydronaut) was our neighbor on the lake. He had a sea plane and flew in all the time. He also had/owned a small island across from his cabin. He had a mini-sub that he would travel back-n-forth to said island!
His wife had a huge bell that she would ring to have him and their children return from the island for meals!
Great work here!
Dan
I seem to recall that you replaced your miter saw not that long ago. I can't remember the brand of saw that you purchased. If it is a Dewalt, stop using it and search for the Dewalt miter saw recall.
They just issued a recall for over a million of their saws, because one of the guards can come apart and become projectiles. Apparently there have been a number of injuries. So, if you bought a Dewalt stop using it until you check if yours is one of the ones being recalled.
If anyone else has a Dewalt miter saw (or knows someone who does) check before using it again. This warning isn't just for Jim, he's just the only one here (that I remember) who recently mentioned buying a new miter saw.
