Texas teeters on turning blue, and the influx certainly doesn’t help, but this administration is so blatantly catastrophic , on every front, that even all but the most die shard liberal has to be voting for a big change in November. There is still that faction that will continue to inflict damage on themselves just so the agenda moves forward. Nothing one can do about that level of stupidity.
I’m on an assignment in Illinois and the evidence of failed liberal policies is everywhere one looks. The huge bailout that the left (which doesn’t exist according to some🤣 ) gave to the blue states during Covid, couldn’t come close to putting Illinois in the black. It just funded part of their bloated pension funds, the governor is calling for increased taxes on top of the usurious robbery that is already occurring. When Caterpillar packs up and heads for Texas, we’ll that kind of tells the story in a nutshell.
There is plenty of blame to go around. Rauner was a disaster. Yeah Caterpillar is moving its headquarters to Texas all 250 jobs but not the manufacturing. Kellogg just announced it is moving it's headquarters to Chicago. So one in, one out.
The us against them does get old and is destroying our democracy. But many don't care as long as their team wins. Party over country. History shows how well that works. Nazi party in Germany, Fascist parties in Spain and Italy. Communist Party in Russia. Baathist Party in the middle east.
I served all America. Red, White and Blue. Not just red, not just blue. When you are in the $hit you only care that the Marine next to you has your back and you will have his back. Doesn't matter if they are right, left, white, black. We were all Marine green because thats what matters. We we should all be Red, White and Blue American becasue thats what really matters. I hope we all wake up before it's to late.
Forgot to add that I have lived in the Chicago area for most of my life and I have never seen as much construction going on in the city and the suburbs. I was just doing some street work in West Town and the area around Fulton Market and in a 3 block area there were 4 high rise condos going up. One had starting prices of 800K. I think like a lot of areas in any state some places are doing badly and others maybe not so much.

To my brother..it does not have to be a Marine that has your "six" I was in Operation Dewey Canyon. 1st Bn 3rd Marines.. I was Army LRRP attached by MACV.
That said..ANY military service man will come to the aid of any other service branch! We are brothers!!!
Photographed this Lear 45 in Manassas, VA this week. One of the prettiest paint schemes I've seen on a Lear Jet and the background was also, very lovely. Plus, it was only 85 degrees up there, unlike the oven that is also known as Texas.
I agree with much of what you say, unfortunately we have moved so far away from having each other's backs in a common cause that it would take some monumental assault on The United States by an outside force to muster anywhere near that kind of spirit. As polarized as we are, I have to believe that even that kind of event would lead to a bunch of whining and finger pointing. I'm shooting in Springfield, the capitol, and economic conditions are not as described in Cook County. The business leaders that I'm working with bemoan the economic conditions, the state's lack of fiscal responsibility and unrecoverable debt load, the taxes, and the condition of the city. Too bad, it was a great city to grow up in, it's pretty dumpy now.
Thats to bad about us not all having each others backs because if we are not careful we are getting dangerously close to this grand experiment failing. I am glad my father isn't alive to see all of this happening. He was on Omaha Beach on D Day. And this division that is going on now in our country would break his heart.
And for just a little humor. Well actually its really kinda sad, 4 of the last 10 Illinois governors have gone to jail. IIRC it is an even split between republicans and democrats.
I think that problem is the red team or the blue team become for many more important than the team those two teams are a part of. To much team loyality to those small teams and not enough loyalty to the big team.
Been away a long time but FB seems to have replaced a lot of FM. Anyway, I was at RIAT last weekend with my new Canon R3 + 100-400 L II + 1.4x extender and am amazed at he results - I am falling in love with this camera (and the R5) and certainly won't be using my 1DX (or possibly my 1DX2 either) again. Here are a few of the Belgian F-16 solo demo and one of the Airbus Beluga XL (used to ferry wings around Europe)

Here's to the Sailors who had each others backs in 1891.
Both my parents were Navy during WWII Bill.
My father served in the S.Pacific on a destroyer. My mother was a Radiologist at the NNMC, National Naval Medical Center, that is now the Walter Reed Medical Center.
No matter which branch of our military our loved ones served in, no matter which conflict they fought in, they(we) are all a band of brothers/sisters.
