.Bet that was fun Dan,
Crater Lake is beautiful as well as the PCT.
Bill,
I look at this image and it instantly reminds of my season job at CLNP. What time of year was this? Was the "ring road" fully opened?
Did you drive up from Medford? Snow drifts along the road 12-15ft?

Dan
Not yet, good idea tho.
F15, F16, F22, SR71, Choppers, Tanker...Good idea.
My son JR did the design on our WAW coins. He was in Dubai for six weeks doing some investment law and had a bunch of free time so he got us our 501c3 and designed the challenge coin .

You're a die hard Douglas...Can't wait to see yours, I can only imagine how good they will look. I can't hold a camera still for the life of me anymore...Depressing. That's a lot of driving...Be careful/safe and have fun.
.
Maybe post yours in a few days so mine don't look too bad...
You are too kind, Bill
Saw some amazing planes at the Air Force Museum in Dayton, OH. That Valkyrie is something else. I could have easily spent two days there instead of two hours.
Got to Battle Creek, MI for the rehearsal soon after the thunderstorm yesterday afternoon. I almost got sick and tired of seeing so many vapor cones from the F-35 A and the F-35C . Just kidding, but it was a lot of vapor. First time to see a sunset show (only props), I tried 1/100 or 1/125 SS. From the camera's screen I could already tell I not only blurred the props, I also blurred the planes. The night time flight show with pyro was something else. I wish I had a 400mm F2.8 instead of a 600mm F4 for this. Not sure if I got any sharp ones until I load them in computer but it was fun to see.
This venue is very different, they let you bring in food and drink and they didn't even check the big camera bag I brought with me.
FYI, anyone using, or considering the R5C, I got to run some battery duration tests during my assignment last week. I have the Canon booster grip and was shooting 4K/29.97 with the R5C, batteries lasted roughly an hour + -. That's not bad actually, but if you want to step up to 8K, or are going to be in a situation where changing batteries is inconvenient, I'd go with a V-mount power solution. After some research I decided on the SmallRig v-mount plate and an FX-Lion Mini V-Mount 50AH battery. This batter has numerous connection options including D-Tap, but the one that makes the most sense for the "C" is USB C. I'll let you know, but I'm guessing that this set up will provide around 3 hours of power shooting pretty consistent video. A side benefit is the battery can be used to power a MacBook Pro, or a cell phone when it's not on the camera.
I've decided that it makes sense for me to configure my R5C for video and leave it that way because it just takes too long to switch it back and forth adding VND filters, handles, batteries, external monitor/recorder, etc. Much of last week had me shooting from the fantail of a new Malibu Wakeboard boat and switching cameras was inconvenient so I bobbed back and forth between to two operating systems on the R5C and, other than the 10 second lag, it was a very easy system to use, actually amazing when you think about what is going on inside that little black body.
Happy 4th weekend to all! Catching a little action in Port Clinton OH with the 'Tin Goose' going up for rides. Such a cool airplane! No fast action here but a wonderful sight to see
City of Port Clinton on one side, City of Witchata on the other.

More too come...
Douglas...Show more →
Hopefully you weren't there when that Shockwave truck blew...I think it was at that show.
I'm sure Douglas will have a story to tell. It looks like he began to go sideways about the time he deployed his chute and it was all over at that point. One vantage point made it look like the pyro had something to do with it, but I think that was just a perspective thing.
