I shot Jones Beach very poorly, and nearly all of my captures are going to be throwaways. Failed to compensate for the bright sky, for example, so I have a bunch of silhouettes.
Must take some lessons from Douglas!
Here's one of the few I've been able to sort-of rescue so far:

Awesome morning at 6:30 a.m. heard a turkey hen cluck. A short time later looking from back porch saw her descend from roost, a tall pine. Then one by one her babies followed her from the pine tree flying to the ground. I ran got camera and took this shot about 6:50 a.m.

Been doing a lot of drone research over the past month or so. There have been some great new developments in drone technology and I've kind of been thinking about having something that shoots close to the quality of the Inspire 2, but that I could take on the road a bit easier than that behemoth. Saturday evening's assignment was a perfect example of why I need something a bit smaller and less obtrusive. I love the I2 and it's quality is unmatched, but it is not remotely stealthy, or expeditious to fly. I don't change batteries without consulting our resident drone guru Mike Brewington, so we've been brainstorming quite a bit.
Based upon what I have gleaned from all my research, the Mavic 3 Pro is most likely the most sensible choice for my work, so I'm headed to Competitive to pick up the Mavic 3 Pro "Fly More" set up. One big advance with these new drones is extended flight time. The Mavic 3 Pro is touting 46 minute flight time (reality is more like 30+) on a single battery. That is close to double the I2 flight time, and it offers a bunch of new flight regimes. Never really wanted to do this, but one can't ignore the market. I've flown the I2 close to 400 hours and have a hundred hours of Phantom 4 Pro flight time, still, I'm a lot more comfortable hanging out of something vs standing on the ground with my fingers on gimbals. "Old dogs/new tricks I guess....................

Wish Ross P was still around.
I was fortunate to spend a lot of time with Mr. Perot, Sr. over the course of my career and I miss him too. The Presidential thing is not discussed much in the corporate circle, but I think everyone who was close to him agrees that he would have shaken things up in a big way, no nonsense and NO political correctness. In many ways he would have been True before Trump, but with an impeccable and unassailable character..............but I am sure the democrats would have figured out a way to "assail" him none the less. Ross Sr., with no social media in existence, that would have been a treat to watch. Of course at that point I was delusional enough to think the Republican Party had the best interest of the country at heart.........aaaaa youth!
Like Lincoln, Ross Sr. "belongs to the ages......." but his legacy lives on in his son and the people he helped to shape..........
God Bless you Mr. Perot............................it was a privilege!
A high school friend worked for Perot Sr. doing project management for their software and then an account manager. He always spoke highly of Perot Sr., especially his core values he carried into his business. An external affair or "messing with the ladies" would have you looking for other employment. He also spoke of how you wore your suit jacket in your office. Heck, even IBM would let you take your jacket off in the office. My friend was single his whole life and loved the ladies, but he kept that away, far away from work. As to the latter, he was always impeccably dressed, even back in our school days, and like me, he was in the lower socioeconomic quadrant. He retired a few miles away from me to be near his sister. We talk by phone or email almost daily sometimes and get together at Whataburger for some great laughs about school days with my wife.
Ross Jr. is the same way, everyone in the company understands the standard that is expected, even to the point that disagreements, in and out of the company, are handled with courtesy and etiquette. There is just a level of decency and respect that Mr. Perot established and it remains to this day. Individuals that don't share that "spirit" are gently encouraged to seek other opportunities. As Ross Jr. and I became friends a number of things became very clear, he is an individual who is acutely aware of his station as Ross Sr.'s son and head of the family, it's impressive to say the least.
His saying was, everyone gets a hair cut and goes to work.
He didn't put up with much crap, gave you an honest answer and didn't drag it out or shift blame.
Imagine if we had that the last few years.

Good ole Military, you do what your told and get on with it and no back talk or questions.
But that changes from year to year as well.

I'm still impressed the way ( usually older folks or higher ups ) dress these days, white shirt, tie, coat...Classy.
My dad wore that and his wing tip shoes everyday for 33 years, even hand polished his shoes back in the day.

The first 20 years of my adult life was wearing a military uniform every day, the last 26 or so was wearing a coat and tie. I was comfortable either way. Wearing the uniform eliminated the "what do I wear today" thought in the morning, wearing the coat and tie made me feel successful.

Hell ya it did...Good job & thank you-
Thank you for the complement, Rodolfa! Yes, it was tough shooting condition at Jones Beach, back-lit, haze, smoke... There is a good chance I will go to the Battle Creek show at the end of the month, mainly to see the Navy's F-35 C demo team again. They had me hooked at Jones Beach.
Regardless where one stands politically, this country is in a hot mess, as 75% of the people believe it's heading to the wrong direction. I think this whole social media thing just makes people hate each other more because it's easy to be a key board warrior. I am truly saddened to see this country is going through a mini version of Mao's "Cultural Revolution", many many Chinese American who know/experienced the "Cultural Revolution" in China share my fear and disappointment. When there are even talks of removing the name of "Washington" from "Washington DC", you know it's getting our of control.
This Friday I will got to Ocean City, MD to watch the rehearsal, it's "only" 150 miles from me. The main deals are the TB, F-18 Rhino and A-10, no stealth jets.
I went back to look at your Indigo Bunting. Knowing how small they are, you are really making use of your 800. We had a painted bunting show up about 5 years ago and he was small and on an electrical line. Very happy you got yours on a limb. Stay happy with that lens Don.

This is just ridiculous Bill, January 20, 2021 was a god damn disgrace. Unfortunately there will be nothing left next term but a pile of red white blue ashes.

Hate to tell you this, but high energy prices are going to be here for a while. And there wasn't a damn thing your government could have done about it.
They could have left the elected Russian friendly government in place instead of directly funding the overthrow of it in 2014 and installing a western friendly TV personality. This all happened under VP Brandon and here we are with part 2. The energy/food starvation of America. You have to burn it all down to "build back better" right ?
I'm sorry to the regular posters here with this kind of response but I'm sick & tired of being lectured with TV talking points and propaganda.
I photographed this Falcon 2000 last week for a client of mine. I had previously photographed it for a charter client about six years ago. The jet still looks the same, inside and out.
