I hear you, and the entry fee will just be the beginning, CF Express cards, external hard drives, RAID Arrays, faster computers. The cost of the camera will pale compared to the peripherals. All that said...............I'm in...............
Still don't have my new Macbook Pro, delivery date is now mid July. I'm guessing that they'll be announcing the "new" Apple Silicon MBPro soon, if so, mine might get sent back. I'm gonna need all the speed I can muster.
I would not be surprised if Canon released that new body at just under $9K, it will be a historic piece of technology and I'm thinking that they won't want to price themselves out of the market. Let's see, a 100MB RAW file would be somewhere in the 250MB TIFF region,...................let that sink in.
Zipping down 121 a few hours ago and "bang/bang!" two healthy sized pebbles hit my windshield like 9mm shots. The landscape truck and trailer in front of me was bouncing out projectiles like it was going out of style. I pulled around next to the pickup truck and pointed to my windshield, the driver immediately motioned that it wasn't his fault. A quick call to the company and a couple of pictures of the damage and the truck and its driver got a speedy response. They are replacing my windshield early next week. Very nice people, extremely apologetic and Johnny on the spot so far. Landcruiser windshields are around $4K I've heard, due to the moisture sensing glass. I just have to make sure that the glass company replaces it with an OEM windshield and not the Chinese knock off that is garbage.

Sorry to hear that, Jim. Glad they stepped up. But $4K for windshields!! Ouch!

Ray, the state of education in the "Swamp" metro is deplorable!!!!! Virginia elected a new Governor on his promise to get education back on track! I see school kids in my neighborhood running the streets when they should be in school! What the heck is going on? Well that was a rhetorical question to which I have an answer that people won't like.
I wish success to your daughter and her husband. The USofA is sliding down the World educational scale rapidly!
Dan
Apparently, the democrat Loudoun school board doesn't want their positions to be put to an early reelection vote. The entrenched swamp from local democratic committees to the actual school board members (all who are responsible) are fighting the "New Governor" and any change he wants to bring to this indoctrinated mess or CRT and sexual assault. The Country is growing tired of this. 5/28 - I wanted to say at the end of the day friends family and health are the things that really matter the most to all of us and wish everyone (regardless of opinion) the very best.

Just bought my IMAX tickets for tomorrow, on the top of that, I have seen the Blue Angels twice in the past 5 days and will see them again on Sunday! But won't see them again until September in Oceania, VA, if gas price isn't $10/gallon by then.

If your little "chart" improves your outstanding opposing solo photos it will be worth it to us for you to pay $10/gal...😀😀

Well, I studied the 2021 FAA Blue Angels Maneuvers Manual a couple times, and compared it to the opposing passes shots that I got, it seems like I got more different passes than what's outlined in the FAA package! Maybe I should just follow what I got to see how accurate my little chart is at the next show.
Here is my observation of the direction of the approaching jet that should be in the front of the opposing passes, and don't blame me if you got them wrong.
1st pass: left
2nd pass: right
3rd pass: right
4th pass: right
5th pass: right
6th pass: left.
Note that I didn't use the names of the passes because I got more passes than what's in the FAA manual. I know the names of a few of them for sure. Their routines may vary depending on the weather conditions too. Next I will be working on the Thunderbirds'. First world problem here.

Ditto on "Top Gun", saw it last night and it was great!
Can't wait, Jim! The last time we went to a movie was to see "Midway" three or four years ago. BTW, I took your advice (thank you!) and ordered a 95mm PolarPro variable ND filter for my 200-600mm lens to try it out on prop planes at slow shutter speed. But my panning skill will most likely get me blurred disks AND blurry planes
Will try to get over to Arlington National Cemetery on Monday to get some shots of the headstones with American flags. You all have a nice Memorial Day weekend.
Went to see the Blue Angels again at the Naval Academy in Annapolis this afternoon. It was very cloudy, the smoke the jets made was lingering on for a long time, the "dehaze" slider in Lightroom could do only so much without giving the pictures the weird looks.
Anyway, it was good to see the Academy open up to the general public again.
Douglas
Thanks, Douglas ! You got nice ones even though cloudy of Blues.
