Glad you like the images! While I shot many events back in the days of film and no preview screen, they have always been very challenging, and exhausting. The R3 reduced that burden by being so capable and noiseless at higher ISO settings. The answer to your question is "Yes", constant blending of flash and ambient light the whole evening. I bought the Westcott FJ80 as a backup to my Canon RT600 because a strobe failure would have been catastrophic on that assignment, but I never used it. I'm sure it's a great piece of equipment, but a half an hour of testing that afternoon kept giving me over exposed shots so I brought it with me just in case but I never fired it up. The FJ80 will require a bit more time and understanding, but I feel like it will be a good tool.
The AF and AF Tracking on the R5 worked beautifully in all light levels that evening, not a single frame was out of focus and there was a lot of what would have been interfering subjects along with the light. All in all, I can't imagine a more capable platform than the R5, but I'm sitting here setting up the R5c, so we'll see!
I'm off to trim out Faith's shed! Getting close to wrapping it up. I'm glad I did it, but Steve Zimmerman once told me that I need to learn....."No is a complete sentence.........". He was absolutely right!

Thanks Jim! I saw no flash conflicts so I assumed that the R5 performed most capably at hi ISO's!

I'm still glad that I did it, but this is what happens when you farm projects out. The roofing guys did not follow my direction and they built the soffits and ladders the way they were used to building them. When I got there this morning I realized that I was going to have to redesign the way I planned on finishing that whole area out. That little detour took me all day so I'll be back at it tomorrow finishing the soffits and working on the trim. Faith picked out her final color choices, they are a bit more traditional than the pink/white choice, a Benjamin Moore Gray/Blue with white trim, very tasteful, it's primed at the moment.......................
Thank you Ray! I was initially planning on Hardie Plank siding all around, including the trim, but "cost over runs" brought me to LP siding and tongue in groove pine for the soffits. I did my office at the hangar in Hardie products and have loved them. Building this project for Faith and Halle has gotten me thinking about finishing the second floor at HQ. I have some cool ideas for the room, like a stone veneer wall and dramatic lighting, along with recessed display cases for some of my aviation memorabilia collections.
