Faith and I finished laying out the base for her shed yesterday, got the landscape weed barrier fabric pinned down (30+ winds). Now I have to get the 3/4" crushed stone delivered, in place and leveled. Learning as we go!

Nice work Don! Did you see the specs on the R5c that they released today?
Thanks, Jim ! Yeah, looks nice for video and interesting seems has digital not electronic stabilization. I should play with video on my R5.

On DPR:
With the omission of mechanical in-body image stabilization (IBIS), the R5C instead can combine electronic stabilization with lens-based stabilization to provide a more stabilized shooting experience, albeit with a minor 1.1x crop.
It's a video powerhouse for sure, but I am miffed that they dropped IBIS. Why they didn't include it with an option to turn it on and off I don't know. The answer might lie in the fact that for pure cinematography, IBIS can fight a smooth pan on occasion, but that still doesn't justify dropping it entirely.

Ray, these beautiful bovines live about 1 mile from me and it seems whenever I go that way the farmer has them in a different pasture or I don't have a camera with me!
But they are in my sights so stay tuned!!
Beautiful creatures!

Spent a couple of hours with Canon yesterday deep diving into the R5c. Gotta admit, it's an amazing piece of technology. Two things to be dealt with, no IBIS and a power conundrum when shooting 8K/60P video. The IBIS was dropped largely due to heat generation. The power situation shuts off communication with the lens when you set the camera for 8K/60P recording simply because there is not enough power to run everything from the in camera battery, even if you use the battery grip. There are numerous work arounds for that, the simplest is an Anker power pack that Canon has approved, it's light and allows for unlimited 8K shooting in RAW at any frame rate. At first blush one gets disappointed with the "it does everything but........" scenarios, on the other hand you must stop and consider what is going on inside these little machines. Truthfully, and I might eat my words, but how much 8K/60P recording would I actually be doing? I love IBIS, but IBIS will fight you in some panning situations and it will ruin your smooth pan, so for true cinema shooting, maybe no IBIS isn't as bad as I initially thought.
Bottom line is, this camera is amazing, really two completely separate cameras. You flip a switch on top and the entire operating system goes from still to one of Canon's full blown cinema cameras. Even the function buttons change to your custom cinema settings. And, let's face it, a little profile camera like the R5C, with the ability to record up to 8K/60P RAW for as long as your card will allow, that's pretty mind blowing. Word is that I'll have one to shoot with in the next few weeks so we'll see, but it looks pretty cool. Looking ahead, I think the R1 is likely to be skewed more to the still side of the equation so the R5c might be the perfect companion.

Jon, that is what I was thinking but ours have black vs the dark blue. Of course the camera can pick up subtle colors like that which I cannot see from a distance.
