The sky cleared late today as a cold north wind blew through the metroplex so I took the opportunity to wrap up my logistics center assignment at DFW. While I was waiting for the post sunset "bounce", I clicked a few off at DFW............
We are close to the end of the year, why not post a few of our best aviation shots from 2021. Since there were not many air shows this year, we should have an easier time finding our better shots. Post what you have and let's end 2021 in style. I have seen your great shots, so repost them again, as many as you want...after all, we love 'em!
Unfortunately for me, I didn't have any local shows, sans the crop duster making a visit...
James, congratulations on getting the pilot license! What an achievement!
Jim, you are too kind! Would love to meet you in person! I recent met a fellow FMer at Conowingo Dam after years of being internet friends. He came al the way from California to Maryland to photograph bald eagles.
Ray, you are rocking with the R6! For the sports shots, do you use the mechanical shutter or the electronic shutter? Just curious.
Thank you Douglas. I am using mechanical shutter, and I have not even tried the electronic shutter. I guess I have always been a mechanical guy vs a 'wired' guy.

I hear you. The machine gun sounding of the mechanical shutter can be intoxicating. I haven't used mechanical shutter since I got my new camera but I turn on the fake shutter sound so if the shutter is pressed by accident, the camera won't take thousands of pictures without me even knowing it.
Like Ray, I have never shot the R5 on electronic shutter, nor did I shoot the R3 that way at Alliance. I don't know why because Douglas is right, you can't do it without grinning, we should call it "the A10 setting"...............
Been a very long time since I've been round these parts, hope everyone is doing well
Some of you may know that I embarked on the dream of learning to fly back in 2019. Due to long periods of no flying due to lock-downs and the British weather, the journey has felt more like an endurance test. However, yesterday I somehow passed my ppl skills test, and can now call myself a pilot. A childhood dream realised!
Unfortunately photography has taken a back seat in the last 2 years, but I've managed to put together a calendar for my father for Xmas. Our dream was to fly together but unfortunately the progression of his illness this year has robbed us of that opportunity but I hope images such as this will still stir the emotions for him.

I’ve been trying to concentrate on prints for our camera club competitions. Our club has struggled with the various restrictions and the print side of things has low numbers. This was an entry in a set subject – UK landscape - comp.
