Perfect exposure Ray! Well done!

Thanks Jim. The team from Austin had transportation problems causing the game to begin an hour late. I had thirty minutes to capture, process and send the photos to the editor. I had 2 minutes to spare. I am loving the R6 more each time I use it. I am getting use to the flickering EVF where it doesn't bother me. But then I am use to my eye floaters too!

Thanks Jim! I bought a DJI Air Pro 2 from craiglist, supposedly a very good model. I almost forgot I bought one, until I wanted to get some footage of fall foliage from the air two weeks ago, then I found out the guy who sold me the drone didn't include the cable that connects the remote to the iPhone. I ordered the cable but haven't gone through the manual yet.

used to be able to use your iPhone charge cable, basic usb to lightning. I guess they changed the USB side (controller) to USB-C ? You would be better off watching some basic flight video's , sure read the manual too but..

I worked on some T-Birds back in the day. One of the fun things about the Air National Guard in the 1970s, we got to work on the old classics. We felt like we were between the USAF and the CAF. But I prefer jets when they are in this kind of condition...

Ray, i got to fly several of the airworthy ones at Patterson AFB in 1958. There told stories that some of the first aircraft delivered had some type fuel problem the resulted in at least three flame outs
Patterson had a jet upgrade program for those of us who came out of the multi engine basic traing program (B-25) or any other recip. pilots. One day through a scheduling mistak they had two students in one aircraft, each thinking the other was a T-33 instructor.

I guess the first guy who climbed the ladder and sat in the front seat won the student role?

Ok Guys,

Here's a test. One of the previous three images was captured with a $12,000 200-400 EF-L, two were shot with the $800 800mm RF. Can you determine which is which? All images were taken with the R5.

You labeled the Nippon Cargo shot with the 200-400 already

I'll stick my neck out and say the last picture was with the 800mm. Apart from the zoom, lens speed and different focal length I'm still not sure that justifies an extra $11,200!!! All as one would expect are excellent pictures.

Right you are Colin, and thank you! The last two were captured with the 800mm. I had the 800/11 for a couple of days and ran a few tests. I wasn’t overwhelmed by it, but now that I am taking a closer look, it’s pretty impressive considering the investment. I’m going to get it back for a few days after the R3 arrives. Don Littlefield sang the praises of this piece of glass and he was right on the money.

Good Morning Don,

Are you still happy with your f/11 telephoto? I can't remember, do you have the 600 or the 800? The days that I had the test lens ambient temps were in the mid to upper 90's, which makes the lens even more remarkable. Typically I wouldn't even take my 800/5.6 out of the case on days like that, way too much heat haze.

I received the RF 1.4 extender a couple of weeks ago, but haven't gotten around to testing it out yet. My EF 1.4 III is excellent (2X not so much), so I'm expecting the RF to be as good, or better. Last week I found a tutorial on the R5 and I reset a number of functions based upon the guy's recommendations. Now I need to take it out and shoot it to see if it helps, or if I completely screwed up the camera............

That's a beautiful image Don! Doesn't even look real it's so perfect. Obviously the RF/11 lenses have limitations, but considering they are less than the tax on a similar big white, they really are an amazing deal. I need to put one on the R3 and wring it out, then I'll probably get the 800.

p.637 #20 · Mustang Air to Air: The Sequel

A buddy flew Chandler and me over to Sulphur Springs yesterday to pick up my Cub. We went over in his Seneca II. Given the winds and temps yesterday morning Chandler opted to get some multi dual from my friend on the return trip and let me fend for myself in the Cub. We've had wicked winds for the last week or so, gusts to 45, so when yesterday's forecast showed 5-10 I was all over it. We lifted off at McKinney and began bouncing around at 1,000' where the Garmin GPS showed that we had 24 knots out of the east, ugh! We were on our way so I decided to take a look at it. When we landed at KSLR the wind was howling out of the east, 090 at 15G25, it's been a minute since I tangled with winds like that in a 1,000 lb. airplane, but we were there and I wanted to get it home before Thanksgiving soooo............ The Cub has been in the shop for a month and they did some major stuff to it so I did a very thorough preflight and a couple of engine run ups before I threw caution to the wind and pulled out onto the runway. My take of roll was about 20', the mains came off and it took a lot of aileron into the crosswind to keep from being blown off the centerline, so much so that when I got a couple hundred feet on the air I just rolled into a right turn toward home and held on. Looking for smooth air was a waste of time, but I found reasonable at about 500' so that is where we stayed all the way home. When I called McKinney 13 miles out, they gave the winds as 170@18, as I lined up with the centerline at McKinney it was more like 090 @ 18G21. The controller was sweet and approved me for a long landing, but I wanted to get down and off. I put the Cub on the numbers, fighting the wind all the way down, and rolled off at the first taxiway. I love to fly, yesterday was. great refresher, but I enjoyed putting the hangar door down.
