My experience was, if 100% of your images aren’t tack sharp, it’s the loose nut behind the viewfinder that’s causing it.

All set up for a dusk shot an hour outside of Dallas. The home was supposedly ready, oh, except for the coach lamps and entryway lights that aren’t functional…………………….yeah, there’s that……….😟

Jim wrote "Good luck Douglas. I had Pfizer all the way through. A friend of ours has a son who got the J&J one dose last year, he just recovered from a near fatal bout with the disease. They put him on the cocktail/ivermectin, etc, and that's what saved him, his O2 levels were through the floor, and he's relatively young."

Jim,

Read a news article earlier today that pertains to this. Seems that if your were vaccinated in April, by October, 2021 the vaccine effectiveness drops to 58% for Maderna, 45% for Phizer, and 17% for J&J! It might fit your friends experiences, seems that all is not perfect with vaccines, but clearly better than nothing at all. I certainly plan to take the booster as soon it becomes available to me, late December or early January is current plan for me.

Take care all,
Dan

I think you'll be very pleased with the R3. I'm still not crazy about 24MP, but it is what it is, and the video capabilities alone make it worth having. I haven't had any big problems with the R5 heating wise, but I have had the temp indicator a couple of times and I don't think there is a big time span between the indicator and shut down. The thermometer popped up at wings over Dallas a few weeks ago, but I was working the camera pretty hard and the ambient temp was in the low 80's. I figure the R3, along with all it's other features, will save my bacon in the video department on numerous occasions.

Jim, do you recall what AF settings you used on the R3 at the airshow? I assumed you didn’t use subject tracking for people, animals or Motorsport. Too bad they don’t have airplane tracking mode 😩. 24mp really doesn’t bother me coming from 1D series camera bodies and I don’t do video.

I don’t remember all my settings , my Canon guy helped me set it up on the run. Maybe I can go back into the exif and get you the info. I know that I didn’t use any specialty tracking settings , just AI Servo and never took it off eye AF. When I was shooting my center spot went wherever my eye looked and I messed around with shifting the rectangle around with my eye and occasionally the joystick. There is much to learn and fine tune once we get our own cameras, and apparently as you use it, the camera learns your habits and continues to optimize your technique, pretty cool and just a bit scary🤣

I’m shooting what is most likely my last pool of the season. We still have good leaf coverage but it’s going down to freezing tonight and that will turn the grass brown within 24 hours and zap much of the landscape. Waiting for dusk, fortunately it comes a lot earlier these days.

Friday Night Lights...playoff version.
The guys wearing "blue in front and white in back" were the only area team to survive the first week of playoffs. This guy made it into the end zone on top of the defender...

...and my USAF Academy prospect added two touchdowns tonight. Plus he had a good night for rushing yardage...

Great captures Ray! R6? Your posts are looking about a half stop over on my MacBook, might just be the difference in calibration.

The joys of commercial work, none of the landscape lights came on after all the prep on the pool shoot last evening......ugh! So that wasn't my last pool shoot of the season. Fortunately I left there in time to catch a dusk infrastructure shot that I had been needing so it wasn't a complete waste.

I woke up at 5:30 this morning thinking about the R3 and what I am going to shoot with it. What a blessing it is to do something we love so much and that brings us challenge and excitement, even after all these years!

Is it the camera or the cards? I’ve heard people say the just reading pictures off of the CFExpress cards make them almost too hot to hold.

Yes, they are, I add it in post. When I was looking at the photos in the paper after they are printed they looked dark. I bumped them up a little and they seem to look better in the paper. I don't know what their graphics guy/software does, I don't get the paper delivered, I read it online, but I do look at the sports page when I am at HEB. I will look today and see how they look. Thank you for the input Jim!

Good Morning Ray,

That's something that always spooks me, different media responds differently to imagery. I'll see one of my images that was tweaked perfectly and it'll be too light/too dark, you just don't know who did what to it after you sent it out.

I had some friends come up from the Austin area on Thursday, and spent time with them at Alliance Airport. These birds are actually flown and owned by Sun Country Airlines, it looks so weird to see them on FlightRadar as Sun Country sporting these Prime Air colors.

Hope everyone has a great weekend!

Brett Farve, I think he played for the Jets in 2008.

Easy one for a Wisconsinite and Packer Backer

Ray,

I tweaked this just a bit from your RAW file, see what it looks like to you............... I think it's still 1/3 of a stop over, but it might be a good middle ground. You could probably dial back your ISO a little in that lighting scenario.
