Great stuff Douglas!
Wow
Thank you, Dan and Zane! I thought the show this past Sunday was going to be the last one I was going this year. But this weekend there is a small show about 130 miles away featuring the F-22 and some lesser known civilian aircraft, no TB or BA. I may try to sneak out to shoot the F-22 at 840mm again! It's fun to be able to get such closeup shots without cropping.

Jim, as you probably remember, I have photographed the Arlington National Cemetery many times. I have also visited the American Cemetery in Normandy, France, the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific in Honolulu, and the Golden Gate National Cemetery near San Francisco. Every time it sent chill up my spine looking at rows and rows of headstones, I can't even comprehend the sacrifices.
Gentlemen, could not agree more. This is my youngest son getting off a medivac flight here at home after being injured in Afghanistan in 2019. (He damaged his shoulder, and yet there was no one to help him with his bags and they wouldn't let me out on the apron to help him for "security reasons". Surgery followed.) He is more than a bit disillusioned at the moment. Aren't we all.

Chas, I want to thank your son for his service! As someone who grew up in a communist country, I have the utmost respect and appreciation for the sacrifices the heroes in the U.S. military have made to keep us safe and free.

It is too bad we didn't know another FM'er was going to be there. Maybe next time!

I am done with airshow for this season now. I usually only go to the shows that can be done with a day trip. So maybe next year we can hook up. Not sure if you go to Conowingo to shoot bald eagles, I go there occasionally when it's the season.
I wish I had moved a month earlier, and then I could have joined you. But I'm still in the mad unpacking rush while trying to run our regular life, and there was simply no way I could get out to the airshow.
But I'm just a few minutes west of New York City now (in Tenafly, NJ), so y'all check in and let's have lunch if you're going to be around here, and let's figure out when we can go shoot together. Airshows, eagles, whatever.

Rodolfo,
Most certainly! I am in Hawley PA, which is just 15 miles from the Sussex, NJ border. Would love to connect with another FM'er and shoot together. Let's plan on it.

There will be a small airshow in Millville, NJ this weekend, nothing exciting besides the F-22. But the weather is looking very nice.

I've got family coming in from St. Louis for the weekend, so that one is a bust for me. But I'll keep watching the calendar!
Family comes first!
Just played around with an image from the Atlantic City show two weeks ago. The first image was uncropped at 840mm, the second image was cropped from the first image and I still have a 7.5 MP JPEG. Sometimes high resolution cameras come in handy.

There is one member here that has 4 published photojournalistic articles, 1 receiving a National Award, of Arlington National Cemetery.
He has used fellow members images in his last published article(with their permission).
Just FYI!!!

In other news Friday Night Lights begin for me tonight. I will be on the field with the 100-400 II. It is by far my favorite lens now especially with the 5DSR. I have been using it for my feature shots for the paper. I love the results. This was taken at 2:30 in the afternoon sun with no clouds or shade. (I get the player for about 10 minutes for the shots.)
What have you decided re: the R3 Ray? I have two on order supposedly, but I am not sure that I'll take them. Based upon how long they have been dangling the R3 in front of our noses, I would guess we won't see the R1 for a couple of years.
I am going to wait on the verdicts on the R3. I know it is only 24mp, but for sports it works well. The time difference from uploading 50mp to 20mp is significant, and every minute counts. I have the 5DS R for the higher resolution when I need it, and I am liking that camera more each time I use it. I guess I won't make a decision until I see the R3 and read reviews. Canon is making this tough, I expected the R3 would have been out this summer. I shot my first football game of the season last night and I am shooting the local college tonight. The 7D II and 100-400 still hums.
