Cheers Steven, it's the only Jug i've seen, we were lucky to have it operating out of Duxford for a couple of seasons before she was dismantled and shipped to the US.
Not sure we have any other P47's operating out of europe.
I just realized I've got to get an EzPass transponder as they are doing away with toll booths, and they're charging more if you don't have one... which state has the best deal for a one time use? I don't expect to be traveling back there after this.
They also announced that they finally accept they really messed up with the current MacPro cylinder design and are developing a new version for next year that goes back to the large case with expandable slots and replaceable parts like the old aluminum chassis.
Erich,
interesting - one thing that always struck me with the current MacPro was the limited storage on there - I think they were limited to 1TB of SSD, which in my mind is not nearly enough if you have an active portfolio of files or video that you need to work on.
Yeah, the whole idea of having to connect things to the MacPro cylinder via USB and Thunderbolt was just plain stupid. I had one of the old aluminum chassis Mac Pros, and it was great. I upgraded the video card a number of times, added RAM, added 3 internal HDs, even put in faster CPUs. That's the kind of flexibility needed in a workstation. One size definitely foes not fit all. Form over function with the current one, but Apple frequently goes down that path. Despite that, the iMacPro in December sure looks interesting. Now that I'm re-teaching myself 3D modeling and rendering I may have to give it a hard look. I just wish they also had Nvidia options for the graphics cards.
If it is assembled the same way as the current iMacs, then a hard drive upgrade would be possible down the road by removing the screen. I did that with my iMac - came with a 1TB drive and I upgraded to a 4TB fusion drive from MacSales - did not take long at all.
I'll be curious as to how they will price the ImacPro when it becomes available.
I'd be surprised if it ended up being that much, but who knows? Apple can pretty much charge what they want. Truthfully, I was just telling Sheila the other night that I'd pay ten grand for a computer that was twice as fast as the ones I'm currently using. Lo and behold my wish is granted at half the cost.
There's so much artificial Photoshop garbage in photography these days that it's gratifying (exhausting) to actually do the detail work and lighting required to end up with a series like this. A lot of photographers either can't do it, or don't want to do what it takes, so they try to compensate in post, there's a difference, a big difference and my clients notice it. Might be old school, but I find it very professionally satisfying. There's a dozen of my lights in this image, plus existing.
