Some flying subjects from today, while patiently waiting for the airshow this weekend in Ocean City, Maryland... All heavily cropped, even at 600mm. The high resolution of these cameras come in handy.
FANTASTIC Douglas!!! Just excellent photography!

Man, talk about some bad over the nose visibility, that'd be a challenge to land.
Hi Jim, Now that is the truth! Oh and just to make things real easy, Willy and the boys made the glasshouse – I mean canopy - side hinged. So no sliding the canopy back and jacking the seat up!
I think just about all the contemporaries where much the same. I have very deep admiration for the navy pilots who landed tail dragger, big singles onto a carrier deck. If you miss the wires, best not to wind up the donkey too much or the torque roll will spoil your day in the blink of an eye. Not that modern jets look any easier – I mean less scary. A couple of months back I was looking at a YouTube video of F/A 18 night time carrier ops. That is a young persons sport…..
….. and it’s even better to be lucky and good! - at least in my head.
I see this as a starlight and light painting extravaganza. To make that work I’d need all the local ambient lights turned off, a clear moonless sky …… and then I woke up! Oh well, a boy can dream.
I approach every assignment with predetermined images in my mind and with the hope of getting those and more. The reality is that the number of gremlins lurking to dash those imaginary perfect images are legion. Somewhere between my perfect image and the reality is where it ends up.

Anyone doubt that a cable variety can make a huge difference, don't. My Prograde CF Express card reader has a matched usb "C" cable that came with it. I'm on assignment on the east coast and somehow the cable got separated from the reader. Thinking that a "C" to "C" cable is pretty much a generic thing I dropped by a BestBuy and picked one up. I'm downloading one CF Express card with about 3200 images on it and it's taking forever. Normally, with the matched cord, the download time would be a couple of minutes tops, this is going to be 60 minutes at a minimum.
I have found that there is greater variance in USB-C cables than any other styles....there are for sure high-speed and low-speed cables out there...and damned if I can tell the difference when looking at them...the packaging doesn't help much either. You have to look for "fast charging" label ...if available.
There are USB-C cables for 29 watts, 30 watts and 100 watts, then there are Thunderbolt 3 cables that are either 60 watt or 100 watt but allow up to 40 Gbps of data... those also have USB-C ends...but should have a lightning mark on the connector.... confusing indeed.
Went to see the airshow rehearsal in Ocean City, Maryland today. 3 of the Thunderbird jets were out of mission, the F-22 cut short the practice... Hopefully they will have things sorted out for the real shows this weekend.

My FAVORITE airline, Southwest Airlines, turned 50 years old yesterday. In honor of this milestone, they have a new themed plane, Freedom One.
I caught this VERY early this morning at Dallas Love Field, upon its arrival from Tulsa, OK.
What a gorgeous paint scheme!!
Hope everyone has a great weekend.
Agree on the paint scheme, Jay!
Going through the files from the rehearsal yesterday, I was pleasantly surprised I got the moon in some of the shots! The 30 FPS of the camera definitely increases the chance of getting those opposing crossing (Is it how they call it?) shots but it also increases the time spending in front of the computer deleting files.

Beautiful aircraft Jay!!!!! As patriotism in this country, not on this thread though, seems to be waning, mine is getting much stronger!

Love how the moon is caught in a few images Douglas! Fine images!
