Beautiful horses, Jim! Hope you all had a wonderful holiday weekend with your families.
Went to Latrobe, Pa for an airshow yesterday. Just horrible horrible weather, 50 degrees the whole day, damp and cloudy, drizzled on and off, but that created the perfect condition for vapor cones. Here is one of many. I haven't had time to go through the thousands of pictures yet.
Also to the Washington DC very early this morning to hit the usual Memorial Day spots: WWII Memorial, Vietnam Veterans Memorial, Marine Corps. War Memorial and Arlington National Cemetery. My iPhone indicated I walked 9 miles, with 3 cameras and 5 lenses.
I am grateful, the message on the note in the 3rd picture says it all.

Some of the FINEST images of these Memorials I have ever seen Douglas!!!!
Sorry Latrobe was cold!
Again super fine images!

Spent an extended weekend touring a capitalist estate...The Biltmore. One of my special areas of interest in college was researching failed businesses. In a way, George Vanderbilt's fortune is an example. Cornelius Vanderbilt passed down "old money" to his heirs, some did OK, others struggled. After George died, the family struggled to stay afloat in their lifestyle, and then the 1929 market crash really set them back. Part of the cure is capitalizing on the Biltmore Estate with tours, hotels, weddings and events.
As to Covid, I think it is all but dead in the South, at least the fear is diminished, greatly. We traveled by car in Texas, Arkansas, Tennessee, North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana, then back to Texas. Only a McDonalds in Mississippi had sign up requiring masks. Maskers were definitely in the minority. Almost seemed things were back to normal sans employees wearing them.
My favorite room. I love rooms encased in wood because I love working with wood. Also, the serenity of the red upholstery then add the books and I am very content.
Ray, the Biltmore is a real treasure! Suzanne and I visit Asheville as much as we can and we always visit the Biltmore and notice something we missed the 1st time!
It is a beautiful place!
Great library image! I love wood also!
Well done!

PS Covid is about gone here also. Finally....now how do I bill the CCP?? Good luck with that Dan!!!!
So I'm confused Dan, now that the lame stream media is having to report that the virus most likely came from the Wuhan Lab, can we call it "The Wuhan Virus" ? Or maybe we call it "Fauci's Folly".......................... I wonder how many lives might have been saved if the CCP had come clean in November when the problem emerged. Biggest question, why in the hell would we fund the "enhancement" of a virus? Kind of seems evil and counterintuitive doesn't it?

A great set Douglas! - must have been an exhausting weekend, but well worth it!
Thank you Patrick! My back is hurting like crazy today from the 9-mile walk with three cameras and 5 lenses. But you are right, it was worth it, for the memory and my weight.

Jim, yesterday, our bible study cell group gathered for BBQ, this was the first time we gathered in person since Feb 2020. All members are from China like me, except one (he is Chinese by descend but was born and grew up in Vietnam). The 8 guys were sitting at a long table and chatting, the topic of the virus came up, ALL of us believed it was likely originated at that Wuhan lab! I told them bluntly that Dr. F is a snake oil salesman. He has made so many inconsistent statements. Now the question is how to make the CCP pay??

You are spot on Douglas, Fauci has been in someone pocket since long before COVID 19 became a thing. He's worse than a snake oil salesman!
Great work, as usual! Hope to be able to buy you some Texas BBQ one of these days!
Have a great rest of your week, rest up.............
Thank you Jim. Here are some shots from Latrobe on Sunday. Horrible weather but vapor cone was plenty due to the humidity.

I vote for all 3 Jim!!!! China, Wuhan and Fauci's Folly!!! I think the lame stream media got confused also. Most are reporters not journalists.
So logic escapes them Jim! Or it is their publications "talking point"!?? Either way "WRONG..Thank you for playing"!!

What's intriguing about the above link is that I can no longer find it. I first saw it headlined prominently on www.theepochtimes.com, my go to site for journalism. I could not find it on the UK site. I don't bother with bullshit sites of the MSM, so it may, or not, be there. I hope these two researchers have good security.
The real problem is we were not prepared for it. It could have been much worse. It could have been something that is harder to detect, more deadly and has no cure for, purposely released by a terror group. Shame on us because it's not like we didn't know it was coming, And then our response to it was horrible. Leaders saying it was a hoax. Tell that to my daughter. She was very healthy and not in a high risk group but she got it and is suffering from long term effects. Since late Sept and the Drs don't know if she will ever fully recover. More Americans have died from this than died in combat in WWII, Korea and Vietnam all together.

You haven't lived until you have had beef or pork burnt ends. Slow cook the pork shoulder roast or a beef brisket on the smoker for an hour/pound, then cut the fatty meat into bite size cubes. Put the cubes in a pan, slather them with honey, brown sugar and BBQ sauce and stir them up. Then raise the temp to 350 degrees or more and cook until you get the crunch factor you like best. I like the pork burnt ends the best because they are like eating ribs without bones and so tender you don't need teeth. Maybe that is why they are so popular around here?
We need to get you all down here when Alliance is back in full swing! I'd resurrect Alliance Thursday at HQ for you guys and we'd have a blast, ask Jan Arie!
Speaking of Alliance, I drove 20 minutes northwest of there twice today trying to do a shoot for a client, clouded out both times. Frustrated as heck, I decided to play at AFW for a bit..................

Sorry to learn about your daughter, prayers for a full recovery. While "Wuhan" was uber politicized, it most certainly was not a hoax. A 33 year old Colorado Sherif's deputy died last week after bragging that he didn't need the vaccine because "he had an immune system"..............lots of folks have said lots of dumb stuff.

Seriously, prayers for a full recovery and a normal life for your daughter! My prayer is for all affected, everywhere. This was a horrible disease that should never have happened. We had a lot of bad information and guidance from the gov't "experts". My son-in-law and daughter caught the virus last summer, I have been praying they have none of the long term effects that have been identified. So far they are good. Take care!
