An absolute grab shot, over my shoulder. Don't know who the subject is, just aimed, zoomed and shot. Bad light, weird composition........ Kind of struck me as one of those images that wins a photo competition and you wonder why...............................

Funny..This is "me" at that age....despite the fact we didn't have these kinds of "toys" in the "dark ages".... now a slow "roll" is the way I go. Like to anyway!! My body makes promises my body can't fill sometimes!
Nice image Jim!!

I was 21 when I took my very heavy Sear's 'Free Spirit' 10 speed bicycle out for a ride. I was racing cars on a Houston Boulevard (so yeah, it was flat) with a 40 mph speed limit. I wanted to see how fast it would go. Short version, my chain broke so the pedals reduced from full torque to 0 torque. The resulting increase in freewheeling pedal speed sent my foot off the pedal and the heel into the rear wheel. After picking myself up from the concrete, I saw I left all the skin from my right thigh and forearm on the concrete, but worse, the rear wheel had lost half of the spokes. The injury began at the top of my thigh and down to the knee. I was wearing my usual blue jean cutoffs. Today they are called Chuch Norris Action Pants. Everything was fine until I put on my fatigue pants the next day to go to work. Even with the bandage the fatigue pants would scratch, especially when I was bending working on jets. The good that came of this was I learned how to re-spoke a bicycle wheel. The spokes have to fit perfectly or you lose circularity and/or straightness.
ps: I still wear my blue jean cutoffs around the farm, wifey won't let me wear them away from the farm.

I used to road race and I had an engine seize going into a corner at about 110mph. All stop and long slide into the hay bales. Wearing racing leathers and helmet of course. It wouldn't have been as bad if the bike hadn't landed on me . I appreciate the protection. These days I wear a jacket made of kevlar with carbon fiber armor over the elbows and backbone!
When I was younger I wanted a motorcycle. My Dad told me he was not buying anything that would run 100mph and when you off of it you had to prop it up.
FJ's are made of "unobtanium" Rob. We bought Hunter one for his 16th birthday. He is 22 and Toyota just offered him more than we paid for it! He loves his FJ, but I think he's getting one of the new Ford Bronco models.

Yup, my Dad was not a fan of two wheelers either. Part of that was due to the fact that my older brother wrecked everything with wheels and kind of ruined it for me. Being a self starter, I talked the Honda dealer in town into financing a used Honda 305 Super Hawk that I stored around the neighborhood in discrete locations. Really surprised I didn't get caught, everyone knew everyone and watched out for everyone else's kids. Looking back it's kind of amazing any of us survived.
Ray, I had only 1 piece of clothing wearable, both civilian or military after I left SE Asia for 2 years...Guess whatIt was my cut off Levi jeans!!! I still have the left rear pocket I framed as a memento! The heat/humidity "ate" clothes up fast!! Bunkers are not noted for their "controlled temp environment!"
The Levi's survived!!!
