Dayton moved theirs to the middle of July, again. Too hot for me.
I don’t mind the heat, beats raining, . The Niagara Falls show with excellent lineup was canceled. I am suspecting most of the shows before July will get canceled. Last year I managed to go to one in June and one in August. It was a miracle. I am waiting for my new camera to arrive next month so I can try it out at airshows.
You bet, Jim. It will be an honor to meet with you in person! Maybe one of these days I will take a trip to the Oshkosh show. I usually just go to shows less than 300 miles away that I can do in a day trip. There have been 6-8 shows every year in our region that were headlined by the TBs or the BAs. But this is going to change based on what I am seeing in the 2022 schedules published by the BA and the TB, it will be down to two or free in our region ( meaning less than 300 miles from where I live).
Looks like Canon finally got the RF-Ef adapter with the ND filter problem figured out, mine arrives next week, my second one that is. I guess I discovered the problem for them, but there's been no discussion about it.
I've been to the Alliance show a couple of times, but not to the actual show. I went on practice day. Once for the Blues, and once for the Thunderbirds. Both were quite a while back. My tolerance for fighting the crowds is pretty low these days, which is why I'll probably never get to the Kaboom Town show.
Yeah, Kaboomtown is a nightmare. I used to fly the T-6 in that show and much as I loved the T6, it was miserable as well. Sitting in a 150 degree cockpit waiting to take off was ridiculous. We'd all lose about 5 lbs that evening. Even with go everywhere credentials it just isn't worth the hassle .
Alliance is never a problem for me, I get there on Thursday morning and stay until Sunday afternoon, never battle traffic or crowds. I see some crowds on the other side of the fence, but they don't bother me........................
I have several hospitals in Ohio to shoot Laura, just waiting for a little Spring green and for the rain and clouds to go away for a few days. I think Sheila and I might drive up to shoot the one in Piqua, just to get away for a few days. Gives you and idea how bad it's been for the last year when a trip to Piqua Ohio is a "getaway"............ugh.
Video dubbing update for Brian, I'm three tapes away from bring finished with my H8 tapes! I'll pack up your camera and send the Elgato system along with it. Let me know if you have any questions when you get going. Can't thank you enough for your generosity!

The honor would be mine Douglas! What new camera do you have coming?
Thank you Jim! I am waiting for my Sony A1. I have been wanting a high resolution body with super duper AF, FPS and blackout free view finder for birds in flight and airshows. I was salivating over the Canon R5 when it came out but I have too many Sony glasses to switch. Two months ago Sony announced the A1, very pricey. For me I don't think it's worth $2600 MORE than the Canon R5 but I really want a camera with that sort of capability.
Some shots of flying subjects from Middle Creek Wildlife Management Area in Pa two weeks ago. Sometimes it makes me wonder if the TBs and the BAs learned from the birds or the other way around.
Stunning Douglas! I've had the same thought, you can easily see how Richard Bach was inspired to write Jonathan Livingston Seagull as you watch these beautiful birds perfect their techniques.
You will love that new Sony, although I find it difficult to believe that your photography could be any better, you are a photographic craftsman my friend!
My shoot for today was postponed due to an Art Deco lighted sign that isn't quite ready for primetime. I switched to landscape mode and pulled out four 10' tall scorched Pyracantha. My estimate was pretty close, a Landcruiser and 33' of chain got it done.
Closer to the Armstrong museum then for a short trip during the day.
If I had a couple weeks' notice, I might be able to snag a day off.

Thank you Jim! It means a lot coming from you. A little faster FPS always help. I am trying very hard to get a ticket for the airshow in Latrobe, Pa at the end of May to see the BA flying the Super Hornets for the first time, if the show doesn't get cancelled. The hard part is they limit 1000 vehicles per day in their drive-in format and they don't sell tickets online or by mail. Tickets are only available in person at a particular supermarket chain in western Pa, which is a 4-hour drive for me, one way. I am trying to see if I can find somebody who knows somebody in that region who would be kind enough to pick up a ticket for me.

Love that set of pictures Douglas! They are beauties!
Thank you, Ttown! At the peak two weeks ago there were over 120,000 snow geese at that location. It's like a tornado when they all blast off. Have to be there in person to experience it.

Simply stunning Douglas!!!!!
I too am in a conundrum about a new body. The 2 points you mention also are my 2 top points!
Dan
Thank you, Dan! Too many outstanding gear choices, like they say, money is not the problem, the problem is I have no money
