Canon is going to send me the 600 and the 800 to shoot with for a bit, I'll let you know what I think. From what I've read they should both be good lenses for the money, a few limitations of course, but they aren't $12K...........
I had no intention of buying the 100-500 RF, they knew exactly what they were doing when they loaned me one for the Alliance show and then let me keep it until last week.
Funny, I have never shot one of my cameras on auto ISO, conversely I haven't taken the R5 off that setting since it arrived. I had it on the Ronin S2 yesterday while I was setting it up and balancing it. Had the R5 on live view for well over an hour, it was pretty warm, but never triggered a warning or anything. Probably couldn't do that in the Texas summer

Great clip Jim! Air bases send chills up my spine as do helo pads. There is nothing more exciting then seeing and hearing our warriors "on duty"!

Godspeed, Chuck Yeager. He would come into the commissary and come through my line, in flight suit. Never bothered him for an autograph.
He would have been proud to be recognized by a "brother" NOC! Should have asked but I do know how you feel about imposing.....Those personalities can make one feel very humble!

The R5 opens a new world to the photographer, this is an over the shoulder capture at 451mm and 1/30th of a second, in the dark, dark. I don't own a camera, other than this one, that could come close to grabbing this shot..............
There was a shuttle astronaut who came through my register there, and he was due to give the Scout troop a talk that evening. He bailed on the kids.
As far as Chuck, his wife had passed during the time I was a cashier there, so I respected his privacy.

Was revisiting some of the images of when I went over to Roswell this past summer on assignment, and wanted to share this one with everyone. Such a sad sight to see so many beautiful aircraft that will never grace the skies again.

I know what you mean "NOC".
The images of the "Welcome Home" ceremony to combat vets and the 5 Hanoi Hilton POW's I posted was very humbling for me! I understand privacy "NOC"!!
These 5 men became larger than life in real time. Although I spoke of my time, I could not find the words to talk 1 on 1 with them until they shook my hand. Then it was easy.
Thanks "NOC"!
Dan
PS. I am an Eagle Scout and what that person did was just not nice!

Well Jim, I’ve looked hard at the R5 spec sheet and I can find no word about the built-in lighting feature……
