As I really dig into the AFW 2020 imagery a couple of things occur to me relating to the 1DXIII/R5. Both cameras are incredibly capable, based upon what I am seeing the R5 is no more or less accurate in the AF department than the III. Both cameras have wonderful dynamic range and wonderfully quick buffers. The R5, when you do nail a shot has the distinct advantage of supplying more than twice the file size of the 1DXIII, but if you miss you just have a larger bunch of fuzzy megapixels
I'm glad I have the R5. and the video/iBIS is going to allow for some captures that none of my other cameras will, but if I could have just one camera it would be the 5DSR, then the 1DXIII. That being said, I'm going to be all in for the 90 MP R5 evolution that is out being tested as we speak.
Going way back to the days of film, no preview screen, all gut. Shot with my trusty Nikon F3, manual focus and exposure settings, on Kodachrome 25..............................
Digging a little deeper into the archives, this was when I became the photographer for "The Eagles" who would all, eventually, become great friends. Captured on my Nikon F3, mounted on Gen's I strut with a special mount that Frank Christen built for us. The camera was triggered by me with a radio slave as Gene flew knife edged over me in a farm field. We chose dusk for the lighting and slowed the shutter speed way down to get the "whoosh" . Everything was a "SWAG" in those days, especially on a shot like this.................
Speaking of Red Bull, Liberty Park, NJ 2010. These guys are incredible aviators. My first attempt () at aviation photography. You can tell from the extraordinary quality, ya'll'd best look out.
J-A, hoping this pic adds some brightness and well-being to your and your family's day and that you're moving to the plus side of feeling better.
Jim, Seems it doesn't matter what gear you are using...you always get the most out of it.
That Eagles pic is fantastic!
Kind of sorry I skipped out on the Alliance show.. but with stories I heard about the media cage and the weather...plus the line up is all something I've seen before... I figured the honey-do list was more important, I got a long needed project done at the house. and earned some goodwill for other play dates.
