I relayed your message Dan, so you better put the breakables in a safe spot.......... I was in East Texas shooting that Phenom last week and a BlackHawk team kept flying in and out. Had I not been so focused on getting my task complete before I expired from the heat I could have gotten some outstanding imagery. They kept landing and then doing that slow lifting steep bank that looks so cool.
Let’s see if we can put a spin on this. You can easily justify a pair of the R5S (or whatever they call them) on the grounds that ……. it’s way more affordable than a Hasselblad outfit. There, easy peasy.
This evolution has obviously been going on for a while but the whole medium format thing has got to be going the way of the Dodo. Yes, a file from a 100MP Hasselblad is going to look 'better" than a 5DSR file, but to whom and at what premium? I'm all about the best image humanly possible but one really has to begin some head scratching on this subject these days. There is the PR advantage of opening up a $100,000 case of Blads, or Phase One's, but at some point, we mortals (meaning not Annie Leibowitz types) have to shell out for that gear and it's tough to economically connect those dots. Annie is notorious for not paying her bills so she is a bad example............
No surprise, and I'd never tell this to Sheila, but I could shoot my 5DSR's from now til The Lord calls me home and my clients would be overjoyed with the quality. These incremental steps forward are purely for my own amazement. I find that if I don't stay on the cutting edge and have new cool gear in my hands, I get bored and feel like I'm stamping out widgets, gotta keep it fresh. Rumor has it that I might be testing one of those R5s preproduction units, weebeesee. Actually, I'd just like to get my R5, flaws and all.............

You're so good at this Nick, let me give you Sheila's direct line....................................
Strange, but in a way the industry is just as stifled now as it was way back in the film era. Back then, there where three or four “serious” film manufacturers, plus a few boutique brands. We now have two or three sensor manufactures (at most?). Best as I can make out, all the big development money is going into ‘phone cameras. Likely, in comparative terms, most of the tiny development money for “our” type of cameras is going into video centric stuff. So stills photography innovation is being powered by second, or third hand crumbs!
Still, it’s not all bad. The single most useful and important innovation in my 80D is the live view. That one thing has transformed my enthusiasm for tripod work. Of course, the flip out rear screen also helps – but my Canon point and shoot had that in 2004! So round and round we go.

NO ….. it took me hours to blend those words. Your Management will run rings around me. Oh, and good luck with the R5s invoices – I don’t think the bait and switch thing with Hassy is going to work.
You mean it might look like a Trump/Biden debate🤣 nickjohnson wrote:

I’ll tell you what, Buy & Sell on here is worth its weight in gold. I don’t think I’ve posted anything that has lasted for more than 24 hours. A gentleman in Minnesota has a new 70-200 on the way!

I think you might be right, her stance is, “how about you don’t buy either one?” Logic which totally escapes me.........😂
My Arrow has a Julliet tail number. There was a nice clean twin available that had a Romeo tail number so I thought it was obvious to have both. Nan didn't see the logic in that, either. Inexplicable.

Maybe it's better to also pre order a extra raid storage thingy
I'm one step ahead of you Jan Arie, OWC is delivering a Thunderbay 8 Raid Ready Array sometime this afternoon. I decided to phase out my last two Drobo 5D units and replace them with the 8. The 5D units are running smoothly, but they are long in the tooth so I'm being proactive.

For all the wrong reasons I'm getting the opportunity to improve my skills at photo'g helicopters... gotta get the blades blurred while the body stays sharp. No VR on this. Crummy light. I'm stretching the concept of "sharpness is a bourgeoisie concept."
Taken from the balcony of where I live in Filthydelphuckya. This Chopter may be from a local news organization, taking video of the so-called "encampment" of so-called "homeless" folks on the Ben Franklin Parkway. I'll spare the soft of heart and the weak of spine from the backstory. Far more important work for therapy dogs to do.
