These RF lenses are incredible performers and this one, with IS brings the stabilization to 8 stops + -, think about that. I can still typically shoot handheld at 1/4 of a second, can you imagine the panning shots one could capture with 8 stops of stabilization? It's like shooting Tony, lock on to the subject and stay right with it and you'll nail it along the way.
The other day when I was shooting the jet I was thinking that I needed a lens just a bit wider than the 24-70 for video walk through clips, this 15-35 will be perfect. Actually what I was thinking about mostly was how in the heck to focus with sweat pouring into my eyes.................
Thanks for your "Likes" guys! I can get you an inside track on purchasing this cool little jet if you're in the market You'd never darken the door of a commercial plane again, it's the only way to go................."Flown only on Sunday by a little ol' Texas oil man"....
The sports editor offered me an assignment to shoot a high school football game over an hour away from home with a 7:30 pm start. The photos have to be processed and delivered by 9:45 to the sports editor. I told him I would do the job and get him his photos. We had storms in the area last night filled with hard rain. I was driving 45 mph in a 75 mph speed zone due to poor visibility I thought I may have ordered up more than I could accomplish with this weather. As I was walking into the stadium, the sportswriter told me the game was delayed to an 8:00 pm start due to lightning. GREAT! My plan was to shoot from 7:40 (play actually begins 10 minutes after "start" time for the beginning ceremonies) to 8 pm., leave for home and have about 30 minutes to process and deliver via the internet my 5 photos. The sportswriter and the editor were nervous about me getting the photos to them on time for the print edition. I kept telling them they would have the photos on time. Now, with the 8 pm start, I decided I would shoot for 10 minutes and get home. At 8:20, after 10 minutes of shooting, I ran the complete length of the field with my gear and a half mile to my car. I got home a little after 9 pm., glad I didn't see any law enforcement on the road, (the weather had cleared by then). At 9:45 I got a text from the sports editor he had received my photos.
This morning, I looked at the online newspaper to find one of my photos had made it to the center of the front page. I don't remember seeing sports photos on the front page! A second photo was the main story, center on the front of the sports section, then followed with two more photos on page two and three. One was used at the top of the page as the anchor for the high school scores wrap up section.
That made me feel good that this old man (going on 70), could still "git 'er done"! Life is good!
Note to Jim: I couldn't do this every week like you do. I put stress in my hip pocket so I could accomplish missions in my pre-retirement days, but I thought I had left those days long ago. I don't know how you continue to do it!
Photos they used:
(Note: The sports editor requirements are for landscape photos, no cropping and I need to have wide shots to show as much involvement as possible. They want to crop the photos so they can fit it to the page to meet their needs, so these photos are not going to be tight crops.)
What a great story Ray, proud of you Bud! Truth is, us 70 and 70+ guys can work most of the younger ones into the dirt. We're used to that speed and don't know any better. Your images are wonderful and I'm so glad they arrived in a spot befitting their quality, congratulations!
Right you are Tony! Here's a shot my nephew just sent me. He's deployed with his Blackhawk Squadron over DC for 12 months. I love him, he's just slightly to the right of Atila The Hun................. my kind of guy!

Then I bet he flies right over my house when his mission takes him West to "Site6". 1-2 times a week there is a 3 BH split formation to and from DC over my house.
I can hear them coming before they are in sight.
Tell him I am the idiot near Frederick ILR waving his "booney-hat" or flag!!!!
Dan
Will do Dan, and thank you as well! Alex led is squadron to DC about six months ago from his base in Illinois. He's a Patriot's Patriot, numerous tours in the sandbox, a tour down on the Texas border keeping our land sovereign, he's over DC for four more months...that he knows of.
Three weeks down and it looks like a carpet, I need to give my assistant a bonus....................I've broken all the rules, mow it every two days to knock off 1/4" , it's firmly rooted. The job was rewarding, but I think I'll stick to photography.

See above!!!
God Bless Him Jim!!! Tell him I am just East of the Frederick Airport and local ILS beacon on the "flyway" to "Site 6" above and below ground at Ft. Ritchie
I just sent him your coordinates.............he just texted me back that it wasn't him but it was his company. He says he flies Frederick all the time. Oh, and he appreciates your support.
Jim tell him what I posted above about the "idiot" waving a flag or boonie hat to his East.
When Hueys fly over, and I know their sound miles and miles away, I run to the yard and wave my avatar flag!..
Had 1 pilot see that at about "angels 3-5" and banked down for a "wiggle" and a wave!!!

FYI, I just put two brand new Sony lenses on B&S, a 70-200/4 G OSS and a 16-35/4 OSS. These are in the original boxes and have never been mounted on a camera. Bought them for a project to use on my Sony FS7 and never needed them, just sold my FS/7 so I never will. Selling them for $800 each with is about $400 off new pricing.
