Thank you Dan! I was about 50 yards from the gate to Fort McHenry. They closed at 5:00 PM so waiting inside the fort was not an option. I wish I had picked a spot where I could get a better side profile of the jets instead of their bellies. They pretty much flew right over my head.
Went to DC this morning for sunrise and tried out the Sigma 14-24mm lens. The sunrise was not a spectacular one but I got a couple shots.

One more day til Canon's announcements!
The 45MP full-frame sensor EOS R5 with it's in-body 5-axis image stabilization is super appealing. Supposedly able to compensates for up to eight stops of camera shake. Would to do some panning practice with it.

Wonderful images Douglas, I'd put them in the spectacular category!
Thank you, Jim! As an ex-Canon shooter and now a Sony man with several top of the line bodies, I must say the the Canon R5 has me drooling. If Sony can marry the A9's AF and FPS with the A7RIV's resolution, that would be a perfect jack of all trades camera. The F-35 shots you got are fantastic! I need to try some venues outside of the usual 11:00-4:00 airshow time windows to get better light.

Right you are Steven, the R5 appears to be all that the rumors hinted at and more. The question now is how soon it will be available.
8k video @ 60fps, 4k @ 120fps
10fps mechanical, 20fps silent!
5 axis IS
Spent the morning at American Legend in Sulphur Springs, I edited video while Chandler battler winds 15-20 in the Cessna 150 with his instructor. legend is very excited by the PR wave our photo assignment is bringing them:
Douglas, you are a wonderful photographer and should be very proud of your imagery. Air shows and great light seem to be polar opposites unfortunately, but you could hang out along the Potomac and shoot departures and arrivals from Reagan and pick your light. Anyway, great work, keep it up!
Oh, and yes, the R5 appears to be incredible in every way. I supposedly have two coming, time frame unknown at the moment and I'm guessing I'll get one fairly soon then have to wait on the second. That works for me, I'd like a little time to put it through it's paces before I pop for the second one. Given the guys I've spoken with who did pre-production field tests, it's a beast in a light package.

I'm willing to wait. With the current state of the planet, the things I want to see and photographic are not going anywhere.
I know what you mean Steven, depressing to say the least. My motivation for jumping on the R5 is that I'll finally be able to utilize my Ronin S, and I have numerous client applications that the smaller camera footprint and it's video capabilities will work nicely with.

Douglas,
When America had its 200th bday and the "Tall Ships" paraded up the river into the Inner Harbor, I was at Ft McHenry right at the waters edge. Great location! Another is Federal Hill just a block off the Inner Harbor/Science Museum. IT is very high and a wonderful place for photos!
You DC images are just GREAT!!!! Love the framing and the exposures. Adds mood to the solemness of today's chaos!!
