There are way too many stories like that. We most likely fed them on Thursday nights with our homeless ministry. Boggles my mind to stand there feeding 150 homeless people with a background of the beautiful and prosperous Dallas Skyline. The truth of the matter is, many homeless wish to remain that way and refuse shelter, for those absolutely nothing can be done, so we feed them, pray with them and do what we can. I'm a "fixer" and there are some things that just can't be fixed.
Happy ending to their story, tough sledding getting there though.
Yeah Jim, and I heard that 60 Minutes had a story on Sunday night about homeless in Seattle. One of the people profiled is a mail carrier, too.

In the past year I have shot in Portland, Seattle, San Diego , LA and San Francisco. Those cities are out of control, once beautiful locales that I would not revisit unless someone is writing a check. Just a crime.
Interesting that Jim's last post was a black & white image. I do VERY little B&W shooting because we live in a world full of color, but I love Ansel Adams' images. A friend has convinced me to revisit/re-evaluate the black & white world. Maybe B&W can highlight (so to speak) our subjects better than a wide range of colors. Got to think about that. In the meantime. . .
My last class in college before graduating during the summer was a B/W film photography class (an elective). This was to satisfy the category "space". I really do love black and white, but people want color. I think for this particular photo, color would have not added to it. (Scanned from my print.)
ps: The ramp was cleared of our F-4Ds while a contractor for our Civil Engineering unit repaired concrete and restriped the ramp.
Black and white, in my opinion, just pops out the image and make it, especially when it is symmetrical, and/or metallic, more visible. Also when the image has a lot of reflections, every detail will be there.
I agree Anwar. I’ve heard it said that an image should not depend upon color to push it over the top, it should be outstanding in B&W first, then one can decide if color is appropriate. Our digital technology lets us decide after the fact, which wasn’t an option in “the good old days”.
FYI, I'm beginning to see some hard drive failures in my arrays, so far they appear to be Hitachi 8TB drives that are 2015 vintage. My OWC arrays are really great, not only does Softraid alert you that a particular drive is a % more likely to fail in the next six months, when you hot swap the weak drive Softraid immediately begins repairing the array. I just put a new 8TB Seagate EXOS drive in the #4 slot of one of my arrays and it's clicking away putting back what was on the failing drive. Looks like it will take about 11 hours to complete the rebuild.
When you think about a drive running for 5 years, 24x7 without a hiccup, I guess I can't be too upset about it beginning to give up the ghost. That drive spun 22,394,880,000 times since the day I powered it up five years ago. Good justification for purchasing the very best drives available. My OWC array did exactly what it was designed to do, protect my data. Technology is great.........when it works...........
I just ordered six Enterprise Class 16TB Helium Filled EXOS Drives today, at $535.00 each, let's see how those perform.
When you misplaced the access panel for your jet and it is scheduled to depart for an airshow in an few hours...just go steal one from a bird in the hangar...!
Just got a call that our new Grandbaby is on the way Sheila and I are scrambling to take care of her siblings for a couple of days. She's being delivered in about 4 minutes as I understand it. She makes #9, Blessed to say the least. Not sure how ready James III is to relinquish any part of his kingdom, but we'll see.
