Jim,
I have a couple P2's in the darkroom that are happily out to pasture. I sold my P3A which was light years beyond the P2's to buy the P4P. With the work I've taken on the last few weeks, I can see an Inspire 2 with the micro 4/3 calling my name. Better cameras = Better Product. Each generation has been a major improvement. I love technology!
A Lockheed P2V-7 (SP-2H) Neptune lumbers down the flight line at Illawarra. By the end of this year it is thought that there will only be four Neptunes in flying condition remaining - two in the US and two here at the Historical Aircraft Restoration Society (about an hour south of Sydney).
What airshow would be complete without a reproduction of the Red Baron's Fokker DR.1 triplane? Manfred von Richthofen died with 80 credited air combat victories at the ripe old age of 25. I thought that a grimy WW1 treatment was in order.
There's something quietly satisfying about snatching a project from the hands of your competitors. This morning I made a presentation to a group of potential clients on yet another $100M, two year project. The presentation and ensuing discussion lasted about an hour and all the entities had already been bombarded by photographers trying to woo them, the examples were spread across the boardroom table. When we walked out of the conference room I thanked the partners and told them I would get right back to them with my proposal, they looked at me, shook my hand and said, "Just go do what you do, you're our guy........" This is for the creation of all visuals, aerial, ground, 24 hour online capture & time lapse, event, drone, cinematography, and finished architectural exterior/interior work.
Additional good news is, I have not shot for any of these clients previously, so the potential for outgrowth from this project dwarfs this initial project, large as it is, and expands me into areas of new imaging technology as well. A good day for sure!
Does ruin the stellar lines of that craft. Didn't know there even was a two place. A buddy of mine flew 71's a lot, he said that he'd be sitting there ripping along at whatever altitude and he'd notice a loose thread on his flight suit begin to glow, then disappear in a puff of smoke. S'pose that would keep you alert to your mortality.................
