Reasonably good news on the IT subject. My Thunderbay RAID enclosure does not have a problem, for some reason when I replaced the failing disk with the new one, Softraid hung on to the problem data from the failed disk. Not until I removed all four drives, tested them in a stand alone cradle and reinstalled them, then created a new volume, did it reset everything and begin to run smoothly. This is a hiccup that even the technical guys at OWC had never seen before, always glad to be the one who plows new ground..........
My new Thunderbay Six will arrive this afternoon Oh well, absent anymore disk failures this should take care of my storage needs for the rest of 2019 and all of 2020. I will now remove my IT hat and go try to do something that produces revenue.
Pretty cool though that the OWC software is constantly monitoring all of these arrays and will email me weeks before a drive fails based upon it's analytics. I got emails for two weeks warning me of the impending drive failure in that particular array. Pretty amazing stuff, and why it's worth it to keep upgrading.
I'm preparing for a refresh in the Canon department so I'm going to put my beloved 800mm on the market. Back from CPS and a $400+ return to factory standards. Just in case anyone here might have an interest. A truly incredible piece of glass.
I photographed this King Air 350 last week and to me, it is, by far, the cleanest King Air I've ever photographed or been around. The owner wants to upgrade to a Cessna Citation CJ3, I guess he just has "jet envy", because for the missions the owner flies on, a King Air is a lot larger cabin than a CJ3.
Everyone has their own preferences and he is the one with the $$$$, so what do I know?
Finally starting to see some fall temperatures in the Metromess and that's a blessing. Off to photograph a Citation Ultra this afternoon.
We praised Canon 24-70 f/2.8 II quite a couple of times here.
I think I have a good example of how this lens can compete with the best primes out there.
This shot was taken with a Zeiss 25 f/2.0, a prime with a stellar reputation:
They were taken a couple of hours apart, light is different and focal length is different too. But I think it proves that the 24-70 can resolve as much as a prime

Great comparison Massimo. I’ve often wondered if those lenses are worth the investment.
Lately I've started thinking about replacing my older 24-105 with either the 24-70II or the 24-70 f/4IS. I like the IS of the f/4 lens (and the price), but I keep thinking the faster lens would be better for my event photography. I do have the option of IS on the wide end with my 16-35.
Jim, that 800 is a beautiful lens, but not quite in my budget. Keep me in mind if you decide to replace your 500 though.
