Watch for your birthday balloon, released it about 20 minutes ago. With our current weather/wind out of the north you be seeing it in another 30 minutes😆.

I'm debating whether or not to go to Dayton Air Show this year. Anyone from here going to attend?
Thinking about it, but probably will not. Other than the Wright “B” Flyer & the B1B, I don't see anything on the list I haven't seen a bunch of times before.
I know I haven't seen the Skytypers before, nor Redline. The F-35 will be new to me as well.
That said, I sure wish I'd had the gear I have now back when we were at Edwards, and without it being an airshow, there was the B-2. F-117, YF-22, and YF-23 flying in formation over my head....

I'd appreciate some thoughts about new gear. Have just sold my 5d mkii, 1D mkii & EF28-70mm F/2.8L.
Am replacing with a 5d mkiv, but can't decide on the lens to replace the 28-70. I was considering the 24-105mm f/4 L IS II, but recently hired a 16-35mm f/2.8 L III and loved it. However, I have started thinking do I really need 2.8 with the decent ISO performance on the 5D & 1DX, and for the price I could get both the 24-105 and a 16-35mm f/4 L IS.

A bit late into this I have both the 24-70 F2.8 and last year bought a second hand 24-105 The 24-105 has replaced the 24-70 as my "General purpose walk-around lens". It is not quite as sharp as the 24-70 but sharp enough - although the Canon page might tell you that there are good and bad copies - mine came from a wedding photographer moving to Sony I was pretty sure it would be sharp. If I'm taking a 2 lens combo with my other lens the 70-200 F2.8 then I pack the 24-70 but eg when I went on safari last year I had the 24-105 on the 1DX and the 100-400 + 14x converter on the 1DX2

Today at DFW Airport, it was crosswind landings only. You can imagine the air traffic back-up when we normally have the ability to use five runways at one time, and now we are limited to only two, for take-offs AND landings. Waited a long time to get this beauty.
HappyBirthday Jim! Outstanding image Dan, I rode that several times, nothing like getting smoke in your face. Very nice touch on the X-29 Laura! Welcome Steve, nice light on the Spit.
We've ridden both the Durango & Silverton and the Cumbres & Toltec over the years.
I prefer the laid back atmosphere and longer trip of the Cumbres but the over all scenery on the Silverton line is hard to beat!
Wow Zane! 17-40!! I should have trucked on out there yesterday. I'm headed to a shoot in Arlington for most of the day , depending on when it wraps, I may kill some time at DFW late this afternoon to let the traffic die down. Although, we're back to normal flow with SSE winds at 5/10.

The Redline guys fly a great performance. I usually see them in Waynesville and sure they will do great at Dayton. the F-35 will be a first for me as well. I will be there for sure.
