All of which makes the effort required to keep her flying all the more incredible.
TOPP puzzle: Anyone read Russian that can give me a clue from what aircraft this was from? Whatever it was must be high speed with those leg restraints. This was from the Technic Museum Speyer in Germany a few years ago.

Erich you were at home in the German language weren't you...
Schleudersitz. Solche Schleudersitze wurden in der Mikojan-Gurewitsch MiG-21 und Mikojan-Gurewitsch MiG-23 verwendet im Technik Museum Speyer
So it seems to be a ejectionseat used in the MiG-21 and MiG-23
Yes, I speak German. Great find! From that description it looks like this version is from the MiG-25, which would explain the pressure suit on the manequin.

The back of the headrest says:
Keep those materials clean
basically "dont harm the leather"
On the side of headrest it says:
lift the seat with special tools only
the red is:
make sure _something_ is closed
"Dont work bending over the headrest or top of seat"
the side of the armrest says to lay some hoses behind some wire.

My Russian was never very good & it was a long time ago. But I think you'll find the text relates to use & care of the seat, not the aircraft it was for.
Much as I don't like postponed assignments, can't say I'm too distraught about not flying to DAY tomorrow morning. 8 degrees, sheesh! Frost on the shutter!!
Supposed to be 41 tomorrow for the high.. HEAT WAVE!!

Wow, all that advanced avionics and flat panel technology... and yet Guard is sill pretuned just in case.

Usually a good idea to have as a backup in case ATC forgets to switch you over to the next controller...at least some one can attempt to contact you "On Guard" so you can regain Comms and alleviate that interception from the local F15/F16 squadron. I've had the pleasure of talking to and getting the ball rolling on 2 separate occasions over 35 years of helping out people who went down, one in Canada and one in Montana. Nothing more fulfilling than asking ATC to do a couple of 360's in your SEA to AMS bound A330 so you can talk to someone on the side of a hill that you don't want to lose contact with. Not looking for atta boys...just saying if you have the ability...leave one on 121.5. You never know.
Some time ago, several of you where kind enough to help me out with decision making on some old night time images. The Competition for those was last night. I had two projected images and two prints – all scored at 10/10! The only one you’ve not seen before is under. It’s eleven years old – a lifetime in digital photography! Thanks for your help guys.
If you folks would like, iam a CAF member, and can photograph the Mig21 seat and post t he photo here. The museum Mig 21 has a metal viewing stand to see inside the cockpit.

I have a big project going but I’m struggling with the decisive lack of creative challenge that it represents. A major force in medical care has commissioned me to photograph dozens and dozens of buildings that have new signage on them. Most of the buildings are about 3 out of 10 on the architectural scale, many struggle to rise to that level. One voice (the one that doesn’t pay the bills) keeps telling me “Really?! “ as I drive all over attempting to shoot these with some unique twist, a beautiful sky, something. The other voice is the one of reason and fiscal responsibility, it keeps saying “who do you think you are that you could think about turning your nose up at an assignment this size.........?” I wish they would just take their argument outside and leave me to shoot in peace !

I'd certanly be interested in seeing it. I find ejection seats of all kinds fascinating.
