Very well said Jim.

Technology is great but in a generation or so no one is going to know how to communicate face to face. Just like cursive writing is going to be something that no one can read or write.

Gotta go put a tie on, I am having lunch with our Attorney General and his wife Angela, a new Texas Senator, and looking forward to it. Great people deeply committed to The Lone Star.

Dear Anwar,

You should know by now that there is no "off topic", here Unfortunately there is little that can be done to curb the behavior you witnessed. The Au Pair adds yet another layer of distance, but in our increasingly self absorbed world one can find the scenario that drives you crazy anywhere, a cafe, a plane, a lobby, really anywhere. Sadder yet is the fact that we are now a generation in and our behaviors are reflecting back at us. You know how precious I consider time with our grandchildren to be, never have I picked up an

Dallas Love Field recently opened up a new parking garage on the east side of the airport and two weekends ago, I had the opportunity to go take a test ride of it.

This bird is a G-280, temporarily registered as N252GA until it gets it's "real N number".

Hope everyone is having a great week!

A few weeks ago I came up with an idea about how I feel about "My Photography". I jumped into Photoshop and started messing around. Once done, I thought "That would be cool on a T-shirt". So, I did and it showed up today!

Last night I worked on the final edit of Lt. Col. Matthew E. "Byrdman" Byrd's Retirement Ceremony. Matt's ceremony was held at The Perot Circle T Ranch in May and was attended by The Who's Who of this nation's military. I knew a lot about Matt prior to this event, but to hear his achievements in chronological order recounted by General T. Michael "Buzz" Mosely the 18th Chief of Staff of The United States Air Force, was quite something.

The edit took close to five hours, then an hour to render in 4K, ending up to be an hour and 22 minutes in length and close to 400 GB. I think Matt will enjoy it if he can stay out of something with an afterburner long enough to watch it As I worked and reworked the final edit I could not help but think how having a camera in my hand for all of these years has influenced my life, my circle of friends, the experiences I have been blessed with and I am grateful.

Memories are coming back in spades it seems. Just after I made the above post Sheila flipped on the Garth Brooks Live at Notre Dame concert. Garth and I spent three days together a few years back and had a great time. He is one of those people who hasn't read his own press, he doesn't know he's Garth and he's immediately like an old friend. Our whole time together was fun, but one of the highlights was playing tag in golf carts at his celebrity golf tournament in Scottsdale. I had pulled up ahead of his foursome to capture him so I could capture them on the green and he pulled up right behind me and purposely tagged my cart with his bumper. I reached up and grabbed the back of my neck feigning whiplash, turn around and said, "Garth, you don't know how long I've dreamed about being rear ended by someone with your net worth!" Several times someone would recognize him and you Ould tell they wanted to come up to say hello but were afraid he's be like most celebrities and hold them at arms length, not Garth, he'd call them over, shake their hands, autograph anything. When they'd say "Thank you Mr. Brooks!", he's laugh and give them the standard quip, "I'm Garth, Mr. Brooks is my Dad........", still, to this day, he's just a genuinely nice guy from Oklahoma. Over the years I have become ambivalent about meeting and working with people I have grown to admire. Unfortunately the ratio of admire/not so much favors the south side of that equation when you get to know some of those folks.

I was at Costco yesterday morning. There was an elderly man wearing a leather jacket shopping with one of the powered chair/carts. A couple minutes after he passed me, I noticed the art work painted on the back of his jacket. It was a battle scene with the words Iwo Jima, February-March 1945. My father was a Marine, even though he was to young to serve in WWII he served with many WWII veterans, so, unlike most of the ignorant people absorbed in their own business, I noticed.

I thought about approaching him, but about that time a couple of mid 30ish military looking gentlemen approached him, shook his hand and spoke with him for a few minutes. I did not want to intrude, but that was the first time in quite a while that I regret not having a camera with me.

The real sad part is that no one else seemed to notice a damn thing.

Sad, yes, but be grateful that you have that blessing, vision, it is not as common as one might think. In this instance not only compositional vision (had you had your camera), but emotional "vision": in that you felt that moment, you recognized it while the rest of the world whizzed by. I have no doubt, had you had your camera, something wonderful would have happened.

No Jan Arie, unfortunately not in a particularly good way. My experience has been that in too many cases your impression of someone you admire (but have not met) is better left undisturbed by the reality of meeting them. I don't mean to be glum, I'm an optimist, but it's just kind of a fact. On the bright side, it makes the people that you admire, and really know, even more of a treasure.

I think I'll sit down soon and make a list o the people my camera has brought into my life over the last 40 + years.

I've got one for the brain trust here. I have a flash bracket that mounts to a lens foot for my big glass. I mounted a gopro to it with some success at RIAT this year. I was thinking I would like to mount a small camcorder of it of some type that would give me a little bit more zoom. Obviously only for use when mounted on the ol Wimberly.

For the brain trust, I'm trying to find something that would screw in to this and offer a bit wider base for the camcorder to mount to. Any thoughts? I've also contacted RRS (the makers of the original flash bracket) to see if they would offer something.

Or if you think I'm going about this completely wrong and have a better idea to combine long glass with a camcorder I'm all ears. I've seen the hot shoe idea and am not an overly big fan.

How about something like this? You can mount it to your 1/4-20 stud and then have a quick release plate on your video camera.

That might be close...I think the issue I'm facing is that the flash bracket has a fairly small top on it, so even the foot I had for the GoPro didn't actually fit inside it meaning it was hanging on by a thread or two...might have to talk to one of my 3D printer buddies and see if we can make something.
