I remember the pictures (how on earth could I forget!) not sure about that particular presentation. In particular I remember the sunrise (?) with Marcia sat on the porch relaxing and enjoying - epic images.

Thanks, Nick. I still use that shot of Marcia on the porch of the shepherd's cottage as my FB banner shot.

Hi Erich,

With Chandler's affinity for horses I think this will be a fun combination of loves for him and a little something different to do together.

I was talking with a friend at the airport last week about his horses. He's the guy that overnights zillion dollar horses around the globe. Apparently he has put together a world class team of some type of horses and they compete all over the world. I shot his Hunter Jumper years ago and he loved the images, had no idea what I was doing, but when you have an animal that is that beautiful,

Jim, you're preaching to the choir! There's an unbelievable amount of money in horses, even on the local level here, but trying to get people to understand good photography is worth the cost is almost impossible any more. They think nothing of spending a couple hundred on braiding hair for a show, but will be satisfied with an iPhone snap, or just copy the proof pics from my website watermark and all. Don't even get me started on convincing show organizers to pay for a photographer, they think I should be giving away photos for free for the "publicity and exposure". As if I can pay for my gear or insurance with that...

Erich

Here is a shot of the G-550 I photographed this week in Colorado.

I hope everyone has a great weekend!

I just don't get it Erich. But I also don't have a clue why people market very expensive products, pay for advertising space , yet use a mediocre photographer to save a few bucks. Fortunately, at this stage of my career, it's merely a puzzlement and doesn't affect me one away or the other.

BTW, that Belgian Hunter Jumper, tossed this guy onto his head shortly after I did the assignment. He spent a very long time getting the pieces put back together and still doesn't have a normal stride. I guess they are very spirited animals, but this one had crazy in his eyes when I shot him. I thought it was just the plane ride, but maybe that's who they are.

Got a call yesterday asking me to shoot India's "AirForce One", I have no idea what it is, but it's arriving early tomorrow morning for a 24 hour shooting window. Guess I should just be thankful that I don't have to go to Mumbai to do it......

Thanks Ernie, there's a lot of security and hush/hush around this project, plus I was too busy and distracted to ask when they called, so I don't have a clue. I know PM Modi has two 777-300ER's coming soon, but I don't think they are anywhere near ready for delivery. These are always "Forrest Gump" assignments, you don't know what you're going to get until you open them up Regardless, it's an honor to be on the list when they pop up, whatever it takes to get 'er dun, that's just what it takes.

Indian AF usually use an Air India 747, 777 or 787 for international travel. Doubt they would bring an EMB-145 to the US unless on delivery.

Haven't heard of them ordering 777's. I'm assuming they may be taking them from Air India.

Japan took 2 white tail 777-300 from Boeing. Currently in Zurich being fitted out.

Hi Mark,

Mr. Modi ordered two loaded Triples new from Boeing last year, don't know completion window at this point. I would say the Embraer is for the guys who clean the bugs off his leading edges....

Tough weather, tough light, tough air, narrow window, just a typical air to air assignment. Learned a lot as usual and anytime I'm hanging with Glenn, there's fun in the air............

Thanks Steve! The AE Rig does a very good job. Glenn built a refined version of it that works great, and I'm designing and building v3.0 with some friends who ran the robotics division at TI. This new one is aimed at cameras the size of the FS/7 and the F55, utilizing dual 8x8's mounted vertically. Should be operational in a month or so.

The fire department was busy the day I photographed the G-550, so I made my own reflection. This aircraft has such a beautiful paint scheme on it.

p.29 #20 · Mustang Air to Air: The Sequel

Just a reminder to folks that anything and everything can happen when flying... so on Friday I was chugging along in the right hand seat of my friend's RV-6, we were minding our own business at about 2300ft when, BAM! A whopping big bump sent our heads to the canopy. I tightened my straps and two minutes later, another WHAM! And then, fire. We think the first bump broke the battery retaining strap. The second bump turned the battery pack 90 degrees, which caused it to short out on bits of metal it shouldn't be touching, and set the rubber mat on fire under my feet. Lots of smoke. I stamped out the flames and my buddy killed the power to the panel, so now we're were flying blind, but the immediate danger was gone and we were still flying. Some unorthodox navigation ensued to an airport with a nice long runway, and a fast, flapless landing later, we were safe on the ground. Got the heart rate going there for a while. And I don't mind telling you that some alcohol and comfort food was enjoyed that evening...

The plane is now fixed, we flew home yesterday; all is well. Just be careful out there.
