It was easier for me to read the transcript. One of my brothers (retired from Navy after 20+ years) committed suicide in his living room three years ago. I heard about it the day of his funeral, from my dad (who was not this brother's dad)

There is a sound clip of him with a conversation between the controller and him.
There also edited clips with footage but will not post that because of foul language.
But pretty weird to listen to that but a real insight into somebody's mind who desperately was in need of some serious help but obviously didn't get it.
Feel free to listen but don't if your not up to it....
The interesting element with this gentleman is his affable demeanor. Certainly a terribly irresponsible way to off yourself, not excusing that, but he sounds like he has decided that it’s over and he is going to enjoy some beautiful sights and check a few things off the bucket list on the journey to impact. Those poor ATC guys must have felt absolutely helpless, not knowing exactly what the guy was capable of. I guess it had the best possible conclusion because it’s unlikely he would have put it back down somewhere without a real mess. Now a bunch of folks have to go clean up the island he hit, and the airlines write off an expensive aircraft. Sad, but I’d prefer this scenario to the knuckleheads, like the Vegas concert guy who decides to do suicide by swat and take a bunch of innocent people with him.

I listened to a bit of the sound clip from the tower but the controller just kept asking who was taxiing the aircraft.
He could have instead tried to get something in front of the plane so it prevented him to take off but then i don't know what protocol is the F15's were there pretty quickly but then Portland IAP is not to far away...
Does anybody happen to know any photographers in Mexico City'ish area? I need a jet shot in Toluca and I dont feel like travelling there with all my stuff.
I began tweaking my images from Middletown Ohio at 7 this morning and I've got about an hour left. So it's taken just about as much time in post as the original assignment did. Lot's of little things to remove, unfinished things to finish. This was a very nice facility though, and the people, both the construction folks and the hospital staff and management, could not have been nicer. Everyone was under the gun, but we all worked together and that's how life should be.
And...can't thank my wonderful wife enough for still smiling after 5 days in a tent at an airshow (including one very wet, lightning filled, leaky, soggy night)
Wow Scott, how often does one get to shoot those iconic aircraft on grass?! Wonderful!! Where were you? That's an event that would be worth traveling to for sure!
