Wrapped up an architectural week a little while ago. Loaded my gear as the front rolled in with 65 mph winds and torrential rain, timing is everything!
This is a townhome product a new client is bringing to the DFW market.....
Had to go back today and have them cut off the splint. Felt a burning pain on my elbow that felt like a pressure sore getting started. Thankfully none of that happening, but they decided to leave the elbow free this time, so now I can move the arm a bit better. This new diet is awful though, limited to whatever I can fix with one hand, which isn't much.
Speaking of pools I've been documenting the remake of ours for my pool designer client. There are some old world craftsmen left, what a surprise. This gentleman crafted each piece of Lueder's Limestone by hand for our pool coping. The stone company dropped off a palette full of 4'x4' limestone slices and over the span of a week, this craftsman painstakingly hand shaped every piece, no two of which were alike. This week the tile guy spent four days cutting and placing a zillion 1x1 translucent blue glass tiles on the steps, swim out and spa seat. The patience these guys have for their craft is remarkable.
Plaster is next, but it's not really plaster anymore. The designer suggested a relatively new material that is flecks of stone, diamond polished to a velvet smooth finish. This surface lasts a lifetime vs. the 4-6 year lifespan of plaster, and the water looks fantastic using this material.
Been busy for a while, and not much aviation going on around here for me at the moment...but I did manage to make it to my kids' T-Ball "game" last night...here's the boy being way to serious:
Beautiful as these locations are, sometimes I think the people writing the checks "must be high" This installation had a $250,000 budget cap...............................for the landscape, the pool and hardscape was additional.

Did the landscape include bringing in the mature trees, or where they in place on the plot? I'm obviously getting old, since I now find it very reassuring that there is still a need for things to be individually crafted and for the craftspeople to do the work.
It's a Bank Holiday weekend over here in the UK. It looks like we are going to get some fine settled weather - at long last. We’re looking forward to strolling around some botanical gardens. Hope the weekend is good for you Jim.
So far, so good. Just single winging it is difficult though. My grass needs mowing and I can't start the mower one handed. Trying to figure a way to get that done

Just got around to looking back through the thread. This looks really nice. One thing that catches my eye though is the fridge. Clearly they've spent some money on that kitchen. Wall mounted microwave, stove, and separate cook top...it just seems odd to me that they didn't go to some kind of counter depth fridge to bring it all together. Especially in the form of a show home where it's all about making it look as attractive as possible.
That being said...you made it look great of course.
Welcome back Steven! Cute little guy in your last post! I know what you are saying, but you'll not find a counter depth refrigerator in any new product in Texas. Some of my clients will frame them in with cabinetry, but the market demands as much storage space as possible in refrigerators so they are quite a bit deeper than the countertops. This treatment is about the best way to make today's size units look homogenous. They enclosed it with cabinetry millwork. This home is $1.8M though so they go the extra mile.
In our current move I really wanted to buy a nice new house with a nice double wide Frigidaire fridge, but my wife wanted a house that was a little bit more of a project for her.
We compromised...we got a house that was a project for her :P
I've a couple more aircraft images from Cuba but this is probably my favourite image - the closest I've ever got to an Osprey in flight - on the beach by our apartment on the north cays
