Thanks Mark! Are the subjects hit and miss, or is there a fair amount of traffic?
It varies. You can get some days where you might get 1or 2 Jets, other days where you can get a lot of passes. Think the highest I got was welll into the teens in terms of number of passes with one jet doing 9 passes alone.
Traffic varies in that you can get USN Hornets from Leemoore and China Lake, CA ANG from Fresno, USAF test jets from Edwards, NASA jets from Dryden, occasional jets from Nellis and other facilities.
The valley is also not flowed -ie jets can fly both ways thru it.
F/A-18E going opposite direction thru the Jedi transition.

As cute as this looks, I regularly have to dodge these while travelling.
Just this morning on sunrise, four within 100 metres, lucky I haven't hit one.
Nice to hear from you Donald
regards to all
Hi Good to see/hear from you again - by golly its been a long time...
Yeah, them 'roos can be a pest especially in ultra rural places outback..
When we rent a car at Perth airport, the insurance forbids country side driving 1 hour either side of sun up & sun down. Sometimes I have a cousin's ute with a few 'roo whistles fitted. I never feel that they work either.
Going through my brother in laws farm, we have to go through, what we call "The 'roo field". there is one clump of scrub brush where this old fella likes to take a rest. About 20 feet off the track. I can guarantee he'll jump out just as we pass. The little bugger waits for us! Missed him every time (so far)...
Good point, but I designed this for my own use so I don't know if it would be worth jumping through those hoops. The other thing is, my design is very different from the one manufactured by the gentleman who built my smaller stabilizer, but is it different enough to warrant a separate patent? If I decided to go into production with my design you could make book on a patent infringement suit I would guess. Not really sure that there is enough of a market out there for $8,000.00 video stabilizing rigs (without gyros) to make any of that hassle worthwhile. I figure a guy can build whatever he wants for his own use and no one will get real worked up about it. Interestingly enough, I had a year long dialogue with the manufacturer of my smaller unit and had decided to have him build me the larger version, but he repeatedly told me he had no interest in incorporating the mods that I asked for at any price. The more I thought about it, it seemed like a good idea to get a pad of graph paper and see what I could come up with, and here we are.
My design is constructed of aircraft grade 6061 T6 aluminum, not "Lowe's" grade stock. The bearings are sealed teflon, the bungees are the highest quality, heavy duty cords available, and my center column and support system is far superior to the existing design. I'm guessing that performance is going to be superior as well. The existing unit has glue and gaffers tape in the suspension system, mine has custom milled aluminum guides and channels with special bolts applying pressure to the bungees on each side. My design allows for re-tensioning and or replacement of the bungees with a minimum of fuss, where the existing one requires a lot of work and couldn't be done in the field.
Experience tells me that I can make more profit in an hour of flight with my unit, than I could make manufacturing one and selling it. The commercial architectural and development markets alone, with this mounted in a 407, will keep this set up pretty busy, not to mention the air to air work.

I was let go the Monday before Christmas. Been out of work since, and the new mail carrier told me positions were open, so I applied to a couple positions. Been applying to hospitals here, but it was just announced that the larger of the two networks here is closing one of their hospitals at the end of this year, so there will probably be an influx of aides out on the market. I hadn't finished nursing school yet, been out of school since Dec 2015.
There's a whole list of things under Delivery, Distribution and Retail that I qualify for, but I applied for a couple carrier positions. Camera gear lends itself nicely for practice carrying a mail bag
should of taken Jim's advise a whole lot sooner when last spring he suggested i do something to get out on the tarmac at the local airport, not belieiving i would get the chance last friday night i finally got my chance, but i was ill prepared....no flash (it was in the car but not thinking i would get the chance to get out on the tarmac i only had the camera in hand when i went to ask about getting on the tarmac, guy i asked said he would have to go with me and i didn't want to waste too much of his time so i just hoped for the best....didn't think it was as dark as it was out there ).... i had to push the d850 file very hard and still it sucks but....its my celebration of finally getting out on the tarmac, this was taken 10 minutes before the pilot did his preflight
i then headed to the runway, with the hi beams on my car shining out on the runway and was hoping the flash would help but sadly....no!! so again i had to lean on the file big time...next time i will tape a half dozen taclights to my camera ( i did go talk to the pilot before he took off to be sure my flash firing wasn't going to bother him as he rolled out)
You have GOT to be a mind reader. Just thinking that myself!! Hell, it was only (seems like) yesterday I traveled up to KROC to meet up with my son and daughter-in-law to help out with their newborn twins, boy and girl. That was 2013. Dagnabbit. I think the answer is: as we age, tempus fugit more so than when we were kids waiting for Christmas time to show up.

Always a good idea to have a tripod and remote release with you in the car for the ramp shots. Just do a long exposure to make up for lack of light.
Thanks Mark...more good ideas and i usually do have a tripod that i just leave in my car permantly....except this time, i am driving a rental so the tripod was left at home
Anyone from here coming to the Gathering of B-17's in Urbana May 2018? Timed for the rollout of Memphis Belle. I plan on getting up to Grimes for sure.

So True Tony, it was three months from Thanksgiving to Christmas!
A boy and girl? Now that's Cool for admirers but a tough run for Mom and Dad. When Petra was expecting I thought twins would be just perfect, then we had a second 13 months later... we survived, but it was a looong run to get to 5 or 6 when things started to settle down. Then came a few sweet years before the teens ... and you know the rest of the story ....
Congratulations Brian! A couple of things, I'll bet this won't be your one and only trip out, and I'm thinking you will give a lot of thought to your next one. It's all preparation meeting opportunity and you're on your way, good job! Maybe next time you'll have a little help from early morning/early evening light, it all jus practice, building on one experience and being a little more ready for the next, you'll get it!
We'll miss you Mark, but I understand completely. I'm going but it's not going to be easy, my schedule has exploded and spring green is still a long way off. I'm shooting night and day and juggling a dozen new client requests for meetings to discuss their photographic needs. I know I'm going to remain slammed and Tucson is going to put me further behind. I committed to attend and I need to honor that commitment.
BTW, in the midst of a day that began before dawn and included a two hour interruption to meet with painters, cabinet guys and trim carpenters, I met Sheila and all of the family over at JR's house tonight for a big announcement.......seems #8 is a boy! Now I wonder if I can get him an HQ gate pass with a sonogram picture................. ? Better clear little floor space for another pedal plane!
