Wow Mike! That's not good news for all of the folks out there who are invested in those lenses. Unfortunate as that news is, in reality, I have owned all of those lenses and captured thens of thousands, probably hundreds of thousands of exposures with them without ever needing to send them to CPS. My advice is to pamper them and do what you can to extend their working lives. A side benefit of Canon's decision, if you are a dice roller, is that the value of those lenses has to be headed through the floor.

And it’s not that they need a lot of repair.............. unless you drop it, fall down and go boom, or open the car door and it was leaning against it.

And how often does something like that happen...............? A guy has to be pretty much of a dufus to get caught in that situation..............(two or three times...........)
Our FFL called me yesterday to let me know my Glock had arrived. Apparently demand for the Model 43 has outpaced anything the manufacturer anticipated and they are like hen's teeth. Product shot to follow..........
Had an assignment moved because the project needed some design rework, so Chandler and I decided to head to HQ and have some fun. He has never even seen a G1000 suite, much less flown one, so after breakfast we headed to the sim. This clip covers Chandler's first two minutes in the sim, the rolls were amazingly good, unfortunately they emboldened Chili to move into the next maneuver in his new sequence, a loop, which ended poorly in a simulated smokin' hole.
Once all that was out of his system we settled down for a couple of hours of serious (well sort of) flight instruction. Chandler picked up flying the G1000 system in short order, kids these days are amazing. He has about 40 hours in the Cub, has never flown an attitude indicator or and HSI, muchless everything else the Garmin offers, and he wasn't old enough to get any stick time in my Skylane. Within 20 minutes his airspeeds were nailed, headings were just about perfect and by the time we flew from San Diego to El Centro, he was pretty much in the groove.
I'm going to check out in a new G1000 Skylane next week and Chandler is coming along to absorb all he can.

Wasn’t hinting at anything you did Jim, cuz I did it too!
Now that I'm back in the south of the UK, I don't get the opportunity to do my snow covered landscape Christmas card stuff. So this year's edition will need to be a little different. This time of year, one of my favourite places is the winter garden at Hillier's gardens and arboretum. I wish you all a Happy Christmas and a peaceful and fulfilling 2018.
More Kodak Portra burning from yours truly. Based upon the disconnected series of images found on nearly every roll of film I use, I've given myself a new moniker; "an untrained eye"
