I heard the F-35B was the star of the show. Great shot.
Thank you! The Academy lifted the public visitation restriction a week before the airshow, so I could go inside the campus to take pictures. One of cons of shooting inside the campus is that buildings, trees and tall light poles get in the way of the shots sometimes.

Great shots Douglas! Love that F-35 with the vapor.
Thank you! It was supposed to have periodic thunderstorm yesterday afternoon during the show, best condition for vapor but the risk is the show could get cancelled. But the weather yesterday afternoon during the show was sunny and dry, not much vapor no matter how fast they flew and how hard the banked. It was pouring about an hour after the show.
The F-35B was an unexpected bonus. Usually for the Naval Academy commencement, it's just the Blue Angels, but many years ago the Swiss Breitling Team came too.
Like in the past several years, I was sitting near the big tent where all the ex-blue angels and their families, dignitaries sit. It's always a treat to hear the commentator (who is always an ex Blue Angel) giving the talks from his/her (Amanda Lee) perspective. It's very different from and much more informative than the standard commentary you hear at an airshow.

Thank you Dan! Mr. Cao's oldest son is one of the class 2026. I can't imagine the emotion and pride when he hugged his son on the commencement stage.
I would have gone to Arlington Cemetery to photograph the flags at the headstones if not for the non stop rain and overcast sky.
The pictures below are from Mr. Cao's social page.
Thanks Douglas!
I have a great affinity for the Vietnamese people on both sides!
Your composition just goes to show people that one can rise to greatness if you apply yourself! Obstacles are made to be overcome! "Improvise, adapt, overcome....." the mantra of success(and the infantry soldier)!
This is what America was built on!
Recent news is that the Red Arrows will shrink to a 7-ship for displays until 2030 to preserve airframe life. After 2030 when the Hawks retire who knows? This is also the last year of Tutor ops for the Snowbirds who I think will carry on with PC-21s. Maybe we lose our aerobatic team altogether after 2030?
"Gracious and Almighty God,
On this Memorial Day, we bow our heads in deep reverence to honor the brave men and women who laid down their lives for the cause of freedom. We remember their selfless sacrifice, their courage, and the heavy cost of liberty. Please wrap their families, who still bear the weight of this loss, in Your strength, grace, and enduring peace. We also pray for our nation, asking that You guide our leaders and citizens to pursue paths of justice, reconciliation, and lasting peace. May we never take for granted the ultimate sacrifice these heroes made for us..."

This goes for ANY soldier, from ANY Country, at ANY time!
It was very gloomy and foggy this morning. I was debating whether I should go to the Arlington National Cemetery to photograph the American flags laid in front of all 200,000+ headstones. I decided to go and capture the mood of Memorial Day.

I will have the opportunity to the them in June, and maybe July too. I read that after the 2026 seasons, the RCAF Snowbirds will be grounded permanently.

The weather parallels the mood of the day! It is NOT a "holiday" for me.
You have brought tears to my eyes Douglas!!
What a HUGE concidence here!!! The image of the headstone of Kevin Coyne,-Silver Spring- a fellow classmate of mine in highschool 1965, is in your frame. Find A Grave........Vietnam Veterans Memorial Fund-Wall of Faces-

Well, what a coincident!! And thank you for the link to look up Mr. Coyne. Looks like Mr. Coyne's family/friends went visit him. A few more from this morning. It's very difficult to get the angle I want ever since they install the tight metal bars, no room to maneuver the lenses.

Things are cranking up, just got a large corporate portrait shoot, a dozen logistics centers around Texas, and several other nice sized projects. Shooting an aerobatic Bonanza restoration for AOPA this evening if the weather gives us a break.
JIII's 8th birthday is tomorrow and he is bouncing off the walls in anticipation. Can't believe he's 8!

Yesterday was a day riddled with storms but we had all the players in place so we persisted and it all worked out...........(Hasselblad/35-100E @1/60th)
