Great history. I get my bi-annual checkride from a Vietnam Spad Sandy pilot. Always interesting stories. That thing carries as much engine oil as the Cessna does fuel. He returned occasionally with some jugs rearranged and all of it streaming down the side.
They liked the cabin in the fuselage- could fly into Danang and pick up nurses.

Aircraft Version: Douglas A-1D Skyraider (AD-4N)

Quote from Airhistory.net
This Skyraider is thought to have fought in Korea with the USN's VC-35 between 1952 and 1953, before coming into service with the Armée de l'Air, France which received 133 from USN stocks. Stored at Châteaudun till the end of 1975, it was delivered to the Chad with five other Skyraiders by ex-French Air Force pilots to fight the Libyans who had infiltrated Chad. Abandoned at N'Djamena airport, it was rescued and flown back by AMPAA members in 1988 with stops in Niger, Algeria and Morocco to its new base at Melun-Villaroche and is maintained in its 1974 EAA1/22 marks.

I was looking through Facebook a little while ago and was stunned to see my R5II with the RF24-105 Z bolted on it in a post. Apparently I left it on a picnic bench at DFW this afternoon............ugh! A gentleman had a question about AF settings and I pulled it out of the car so I could help him, just have set it down and gone back to my C400............so dumb! A group of DFW Spotters found it, called DPS and gave it to them, then posted it on the website. I never would have know what happened to it....Show more →

A tip of the hat, to the DFW Spottersgroup.
Good to see some genuine honesty ...
Very true Jan Arie! I picked it up this morning when they opened. The lady in charge was very nice and handed it to me like it was solid gold. They took good care of it overnight, but we were both very happy to be reunited............

First Gig with the C400, it's a keeper, but more of the learning curve...................
While it’s all a function of remarkable immersion in my XP12 flight sim, the Phenom 300 by Aerobask is just amazing. I’m learning how to fly that plane, right now immersed in the POH I got from “ScribD”. I’m hoping upon hope that when my son goes back for recurrent in the Praetor 600, I get a chance to sit in the FSI’s jump seat (at least), to find out what it’s (as to close to) really like to be in another version of the 300. Meanwhile, I’ll be pleased with learning the 300 on XP12. When I’ve learned enough to avoid making a fool of myself, I’ll post a video here. Tony

98"? Wow can't imagine that! 46" is the widest we have. I still have a Sony 27" CRT(over 30 years old and still is great) and a Sony Calibrated Monitor-Artisan=crt...

Each time I work with the C400 I find yet another component need. Yesterday I mounted up the RF600/4 and the need for a lens support on the 15mm rails was obvious. I cradled it so the mount wasn't stressed, but that isn't a long term, or even a short term option. But boy, the imagery is outstanding!

Darn Jim, we had artillery smaller than this in Nam! !!!
Beautiful piece of equipment!

Ok Jim, I just traded in my entire kit of 1DX, 5DS R, and assorted lenses for an R5 kit with the RF 24-105L (along with the grip) and the RF 100-500. It’s all your fault!!!
There was a guy at Founders Plaza the other day, you know, the day I left my mind at home. He had an R5II and was telling me how his dream lens was an RF600/4. I asked him how he'd like to shoot with one for a little while and I walked to the car and pulled mine out of the case. We mounted it up and his feet were't touching the ground. I guess he shot with it for an hour, it was so fun to see someone so excited about photography and getting to play with a lens he'd only dreamed of. When we mounted it up I told him that I could not be held responsible for anything that happened from that moment on.
Chas, please let me know if I can help you get up to speed with the R5, you are embarking on a fun journey! You will be blown away at what you'll be able to produce with the 100-500.
