Hey ... those are my guys! I have noticed they seem to be hitting more destinations, not just KMHR. Nice gear up departure captures with the mountain background. I'm usually only capturing them with gear down on final. I'm not sure how much longer they will be around since they're providing currency flying for the retiring U-2.

They come up here a lot actually, 2X in the last week.
But ya, retiring U2 not sure.
One of the pilots I talk to up here when he fly's up and I talked with him down at the Air Show beginning of the year with you said he's needs about 800 hours to start flying the U2 and he's looking forward to it, but for how much longer I have no idea. When he graduates I am doing some special challenge coins for him and a few other goodies. They buzz the shop here for me to when they come up. Lately they take off and keep it low for longer than normal before going ballistic.
The kids were over this weekend and the boys wanted to play some football in the yard. I took this as another good opportunity to to see what the R5II AF would do. They ran back and forth throwing the ball and jumping around, the AF was dead on no matter what I threw at it.
Looking forward to a beautiful weekend in Houston (words that typically don't end up in the same sentence), the first R5II airshow. I pretty much know that the cameras will perform spectacularly, but it will be fun wringing them out.
Saturday evening was Halle's Homecoming celebration so we drove out to the farm to take pictures. I mounted the RF70-200/2.8 to one body and the new RF24-105/2.8 to the second R5II. The 70-200/2.8 has been a favorite way before there was ever an RF glimmer in Canon's eye, superior in every way. I can distinguish Saturday's images from the RF70-200 just because of the background texture, but, as far as sharpness/contrast/color, and AF ability, the RF24-105/2.8 is a clear winner. The zoom module was really designed for video work, but I don't see any reason to ever take it off, it's really a nice feature to have.
This is a composition that clearly shows the AF capability of the "II". My R5/R5C would require me to move the AF point over to one of the two subjects because the tendency would be for the road in the distance to draw focus because it's in the center. The "II" allows you to point the camera at one of the subjects, hold the shutter button down half way to capture their eye, then recompose and fire away with complete confidence that you won't lose your subject, regardless of what they do from that point on.
