Today's Tacoma is nearly the size of my 2001 Tundra. The Tacoma SR5 has half the cylinders producing 13 more hp (278) but it cost twice as much as my Tundra did when I bought it 9/11/2001 ($20k).
My very last 1 was a 1991 SR5 4wd(under $10k)..Perfect Size and lasted 20+ years and ran like a charm. I could still do all the mtce myself.
I scarcely open the hood of my vehicles anymore Ray!
Thanks!

Thanks all.
chas, you are right on your first guess...Cable reels.

My truck ( 2019 Dodge Ram Long Horn ) is in the shop for a few weeks so they gave me a new 2024 Toyota.
Little turbo 4 cylinder, not bad but I like my Hemi. This truck is nice but small and only has half the options my other truck has. Kinda hard getting in and out of, hitting my knee or hitting my head. The adaptive cruise is a trip and the lane sensors are really scary...

The big wheels are new one's for a ski chair lift at Mt. Ashland
Little drone video I did as well.

Hi Jim,
You probably don't remember this, but last summer I had asked a question regarding trading in both my 1DX and 5DS R for an R5, questioning of the R5 would be a good replacement for both. The goal here is reducing the weight of the backpack I carry with both bodies along with a couple of lenses, as well as the weight of what I have in my hand when I shoot. And all of that without sacrificing the quality I look for in shooting both airshows/birds in flight as well as detailed landscape stuff. You sent me the is very detailed answer and suggested that I query you back once you got your hands on the R5 II. Sooooo...., now that you have been using one for several weeks, would you mind so much revisiting your answer? Also, true to your generous nature, you had offered to loan me an R5 to try out. If you would like to do so now with the R5II, feel free! (only kidding on that request)
Sorry for the tardy reply. You are going to be very pleased that you were patient, the R5II is the one that you want, no question. People whine about minimal improvements over the series I, all due respect, this is "The" camera, the flagship, hands down. The AF improvements alone justify the upgrade. I loved my 5DSR, still marvel at the image quality it produced, same with the 1DX I, II and III, you will never look back if you trade them all in and go with an R5II. One caution, don't try an RF lens with it until you are ready to step off that cliff. I remember thinking that I'd never spend that kind of money for a lens. well you know how that went..........

Bill! So proud of you Buddy, you are really diving into this imaging thing! Mike B has a Red Phone hotline if you run into a snag!.............................. I think it's a 900 number though.....................
I love my R5C body with the 50mm. While there are times I wish I had the 85mm, I really love the 50. I bought the R5C for the video, but it is my portrait camera/lens standard. I take a lot of "feature" photos for the newspaper and they love them. I am drooling for an R5 II from the reviews Jim has given us, alas, I do have a budget. My going forward plan is to move to total mirrorless. However, my 401k has to improve to make that happen.
So glad that you like it Ray, you're putting it to good use! I agree with you about the R5C, I don't think I'll get rid of that camera anytime soon, it's extraordinarily capable. 401K.........hmmm, let's see, where did I put my 401K.........? Oh, it's in my camera case.................
Ray, as you know, the RF50/1.2 is a dram lens, the 85 is just that much more. Hard to believe that 35mm would affect the look that much, but it's a one of a kind. The 70-200/2.8 get's you as close as you can get, so use it until you finally give in..........

I always loved the 85mm results. But the 50 allowed me to get a little closer. Of course, I am not dead yet and I ain't through buying stuff!
I have a second granddaughter graduating this year and have already committed to doing senior photos. You know, you always need a reason to spend money!

Bill it is always available. Over the years I've had a lot of fun pushing Jim out of his comfort zone. Most of his calls he already knows the answer but wants to be reassured. Putting an aerial camera like today's drones have in the hands of a talented photographer leaves them awestruck as they discover the possibilities. I'm actually down in your part of the world until Friday. We have a 101 year old widow in Grants Pass we have been keeping an eye on for almost 50 years. She cut the cake at our wedding 48 years ago. We've had her on hospice this last week and yesterday afternoon she finally went home to be with the Lord. We had the RV parked on the Rogue for a few days and I threw the drone out over the river for a quick peek.
What you don’t feel is the adrenalin rush as we dodge the trees and skim the water before soaring to greater heights to take in the view. And then there is the challenge of finding the window in the trees to return home. With brightly lit screens and improved obstacle detection it has gotten easier for us old farts with drones but still not fool proof.
Beautiful Mike and thank you-
Sorry to hear of your friends passing but seems like she was a good friend for a long time and she is at rest now.

I have so many things I have been thinking of doing videos of, one of them was exactly what you just posted...Just beautiful. Would have been fun to fly with you and tail behind on a video. Loved the snowstorm one you did. Now trying to figure out what video editing platform I want to use again if any.
Bill, after many years of getting overcharged by Adobe Premiere I moved to Davinci Resolve. What drew me was their free version which had just a few limitations. After a few months with the free version I picked up their Speed Editor which was bundled with their Studio license for $400. Premiere cost me $286 a year with tax and Davinci Resolve Studio is a $295 one time charge with lifetime updates. The learning curve is not too steep if an old farts like me can figure it out. When I canceled Premiere they gave me 60 days free to change my mind. In those 60 days I never opened Premiere again. No regrets.
Ya, my subscription base of monthly fees keeps adding up, don't need anymore as I closed half of them other than Adobe. I have Pinnacle so might just reinstall that although it's decades old but works. Nice thing about YouTube is you don't have to edit a video before uploading now a days, no way could you do that 15/20 years ago.

I keep my Adobe Photographer’s subscription going @10.83/month but no longer feel the need for Topaz and others.
$9.99 here and got my money back from Topaz. Bought DXO thanks to JeffL here and it's incredible.
Ouch Bill. Rubbing in the no sales tax in Oregon. Living in Vancouver we tend to make bigger purchases across the river in Oregon to avoid it. Can't avoid it on subscriptions and Amazon though.
